Agile Curriculum Developer/Team Coach
Location: Detroit Metro
Duration: 4 weeks-6 months
This will be the LEAD Curriculum Developer for an exclusive engagement onsite at our client, supporting an Agile Transformation and scaling Agile through multiple phases of work.
Initial priority is to lead the “Agile Training Curriculum Development Phase”.  This role will work with our Agile Transformation Lead and with our client onsite to develop training material and Training content based on the Agile Lead’s Assessment (prior phase).
Initial Curriculum Development phase is scheduled to be 4 weeks.
This consultant will possibly continue into subsequent phases including:
Training Execution phases while scaling Agile (custom)
Coaching phase
Agile Training Curriculum Development Phase: 3-4 weeks
  • Identify roles and teams to be trained based on the Assessment and Agile Transformation lead recommendations.
  • Develop Agile training material based on process assessment. This will be customized training material which includes PowerPoint presentation, workshop material, that will be edited and utilized by our client.
  • Work with our end client to develop a training workshop schedule that encompasses all commercial business and IT resources that support the group.
  • Work with client during training to “train-the-trainer” with the goal of eventually conducting the training without the support of APEX Systems.
  • Work with client resources to align process recommendation to client’s APEX Agile methodology
  • Develop an embedded support plan for all impacted sites including Troy/Detroit, Charlotte NC and India based teams.
  • Develop schedule that will outline embedded resource roll-off after a period of 10-12 weeks unless otherwise agreed upon.
  • Deliverables may include creating: Agile Methods, Framework and Best Practices Catalog Outline, Training program content recommendations, Recommended Roles & Responsibilities (Team-Level)

Agile Training Execution Phase: 12 weeks
•This is NOT a SAFE trainer-this will be a custom training NOT a licensed SAFE training
Training Scope includes Training for Product Owners, Development Team members and Scrum Masters
  • Execution of training based on agreed upon schedule
  • Attendee tracking
  • Coordination with client to schedule training
  • Build, launch and summarize training survey

Agile Team Coaching Phase: Timeframe TBD
Responsible for driving Agile adoption and transformation within Commercial teams, including ongoing process discipline, maturity and continuous improvement, eventually assisting with a transition plan to pass off the coaching to the client.
  • Serve as an embedded Agile Coach within the 5 agile development teams.  The length of time and number of embedded resources will be agreed upon with our client and determined during the Assessment and Training Curriculum Development phases
  • Provide ongoing support to assigned teams
  • Attend all team meetings/ceremonies
  • Mentor each role within the team
  • Offer live guidance to keep the team on the path to success
  • Challenge the team to think through situations on their own
  • Provide feedback to program leadership to help address trends program-wide
  • As a servant leader, they will also improve teams of developers and overall project execution through increasing collaboration, innovation and introducing techniques that promote adaptability and flexibility in the face of unpredictable circumstances.

Required Skills:
  • Experience developing Agile training curriculum and documentation from scratch at a team level or beyond
  • Must have proven Agile coaching skills, experience and a successful track record
  • Agile Coach with 5+ years of relevant experience as a coach and 10+ years of overall Agile experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills tailored to the proper audience
  • Experience coaching live hands on
  • Experience creating professional training documents and materials (Candidates must be able to provide samples)
  • Collaborative and cooperative to work with an existing Agile Transformation Leader + Technical Architect

Desired Skills
  • Experience with transformation from waterfall to Agile
  • SAFE SPC4 Certification or equivalent scaled agile experience
  • Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong personal ownership and subject matter expertise for team level coaching, meeting facilitation, Agile ceremonies, SAFe process adoption, training documentation and delivery, process documentation, team assessments and improvement plans.
