Apex Systems is recruiting a Application Support Analyst for one of our large clients here in the Pittsburgh area.  As an application support analyst, your role will include implementing systems, but also support, administration and maintenance of already existing systems. Providing documentation and training staff in existing business information applications, testing system upgrades and business reports relevant to the company will also be necessary. Any upgrades, releases and enhancements will need to be communicated to relevant departments. Users must also be aware of the changes.

Initially, many application support analysts must provide technical support to the users. That can be done either in person, either via telephone or via e-mail. After a few months of gathering experience within a company, application support analysts will have to ensure a better usability of the system, by enhancing it. In order to do that, the candidate must also be able to manage different development tasks.

The perfect candidate will have experience with administrating systems, have demonstrable support, and report writing skills.

Requirements:
1. Security/System Administrator skills (AD, Linux, Solaris, and/or AIX).
2. System Administration, Scripting and Perl Scripting experience
3. Background and experience in multiple security concepts, and technologies.
4. Knowledge in one of the following areas and the ability and motivation to learn the others:
a. Directories (Microsoft AD, Oracle LDAP, etc...)
b. Web security architecture
c. Understand how to use API's and Web Services

Required Qualifications:
1. 3 - 5 years of experience strongly preferred
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and software development experience.
3. Development and Database development skills (Oracle and SQL Server).
4. Requires a clear understanding of Identity and Access Management.
5. Requires experience with distributed applications.
6. Requires an understanding of Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase
7. Strong analytical and organizational skills.
8. Strong communications skills, both written and oral
9. Organized, responsive and highly thorough problem solver

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Ability to support US Eastern time zone (8 am to 5 pm)
2. Ability to be on call 24 hours on a rotational basis
3. Ability to work from home (VPN)

Additional Notes: 
  • Contract with potential to go perm 
  • 1-5 years experience strongly preferred
  • Financial experience a plus
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred in an IT major
