Title: Cobol Developer

Location: Columbus, OH

Contract: Multi-year/open ended


Apex Systems is currently seeking a Cobol developer for a long term contract in Columbus, OH


Looking for a candidate who has experience in COBOL and DB2. The candidate should be able to hit the ground running from a technical perspective, but will need to be a quick learner for understanding IT's processes as well and Functional areas. This contractor will be working on a TIGER team which is a team focusing on many types of technologies and business areas as we attack projects needing a fast turn-around. I need a highly effective communicator who has a passion for learning, delivers high quality code, adaptable to change, and meets deadlines. The candidate must be highly collaborative and ready to contribute to team however is needed (learning new coding language, testing, documentation, etc)


  • Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and documenting programs.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.
  • May report directly to a project lead or manager.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.


Minimum requirements Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Associates Degree in Computer Science of IT Software Developer experience, or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of IT Software Developer experience.
