Job Scope & Purpose:
Our exclusive client is building a brand new lab and team focused on regenerative stem cell therapy specifically in iPSC focused cells and needs your expertise. They are seeking a confident leader to build process and manufacture of clinical grade pluripotent stem cell lines. You will be relied upon to guide the development and strategy of scaling up cell culture processes and implement GMP protocols to usher projects cross-functional units internally (CMC and Manufacturing). You will also help build the team and procure specialized lab equipment to outfit the lab in their amazing new facility. In addition, you will work with an amazing team of cutting edge cell and gene therapy experts and take on a variety of therapeutic programs in this unique biotech. Primary Role Responsibilities: 
  • You will build a scientific and process development team to launch the manufacture of clinical-grade induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines to serve as starting material for various stem cell products
  • You will be able to develop and execute strategy to support the GMP manufacture of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines
  • Develop and optimize analytics tools to characterize stem cell starting material and products in vitro and in vivo
  • Develop strategies for the assessment and process development of novel stem cell therapies 
  • Teamwork is key. You will work closely with the CMC team to ensure compliance during in house and external GMP manufacturing 
  • Contribute intellectually to the discovery and assessment of novel stem cell therapies 
  • Responsibilities for oversight of developing budget and monitor expenditures
  • Communicate program progress and issues to senior management, to regulatory agencies as necessary, and at national and international conferences as appropriate

Primary Role Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Stem Cell Biology with 10+ years of industry experience in Biotechnology, Core Laboratory, or Pharmaceutical settings
  • Expertise in pluripotent stem cell biology, reprogramming, and culturing strategies
  • Knowledge of US and EU cell therapy regulations and/or cGMP standards
  • Gene editing experience (CRISPR/Cas9, TALEN, etc) is preferred
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with an enthusiasm for participating in a fast-paced environment characterized by rigorous science and innovative thinking 
  • Self-motivated and adept at regularly delivering towards deadlines and strong skills in troubleshooting 
  • Ability to adapt to frequent change and thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial early-stage environment 
  • Ability to work independently is a must
  • Some travel within and outside the US may be required with CRO partners or vendors
