Apex Systems, the Nation’s 2nd largest Technical Staffing and Services Firm, has an opening for Electronics Test Engineer for a Large Electronics Manufacturer in Lisle, IL for an 6 Month Contract-to-Hire
Electronics Test Engineer
Position Overview:
Apex is seeking an electronics test engineer to own the design verification of wireless sensing products.  The candidate will work individually as well as with teams in office and lab settings to define test plans, develop test fixtures, execute tests, and document test results.  
 
Essential Functions:
  • Work collaboratively to analyze product requirements and hardware designs to define design verification test plans.
  • Design and construct any necessary test fixtures.
  • Where appropriate, develop test automation to accelerate design verification testing as well as support quality assurance testing during production.
  • Work with test lab resources to coordinate testing within the Reliability Lab.
  • Perform manual electronics testing from the subsystem level up to full system test.
  • Produce high-quality documentation of all tests performed as well as test results.
  • Assist with troubleshooting or root cause analysis of any test failures.
  • Work closely with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, and quality lead to define production test systems.
  • Assist project engineers with field testing of products for industrial environments and applications.
  • Work in a team-based environment to collaboratively determine and document timelines, project plans, design verification schedules, and test plans.

 
Required Qualifications: 
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or electrical technician degree
  • 3+ years of professional experience designing or testing electronic circuits

 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Strong knowledge of testing mixed signal electronics and embedded systems including microprocessors, communications, power supplies, and analog sensors.
  • Knowledge of low-power, battery-powered design aspects and experience carrying out power consumption testing.
  • Prior experience with digital communications such as SPI, I2C, UART, etc
  • General RF testing experience with emphasis on Wi-Fi and 802.15.4.
  • Experience developing test automation and designing and building test fixtures.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronics and performing root cause analysis of unexpected behavior.

Nice To have Qualifications:
  • Looking for someone who has released product, specifically chloride batteries as part of the product or someone PI CC 20 Wi-Fi Radio.

 
Skills and Abilities:
  • Be a results-oriented self-starter who holds one’s self accountable for performance and excels in a fast-paced team-based environment.
  • Able to read and understand electrical schematics for test development and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to translate product requirements into detailed hardware test plans.
  • Excellent analytical and empirical problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to independently create and execute hands-on design verification test plans from component-level to system-level designs.
  • Skilled with laboratory tools and test equipment including oscilloscopes, power analyzers, logic analyzers, soldering stations, signal generators, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, impedance analyzers, environmental chambers, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Proficiency using MS Office suite
