Cyber Security Officer
Sacramento, CA
Contract to hire - MUST sit onsite
Our local team manages a data warehouse to provide analytic capabilities for health program analysis. The security officer needs to be able to analyze the security posture of the warehouse and associated tools and applications and apply policy directive based on existing security policies, HIPAA and NIST 800-53. The security officer will monitor daily security issues and address them with the application and IT teams as needed. Regular coordination with the architecture/solutions team and the ISO is required for successful execution of duties.

  • Experienced in application of security best practices based on HIPAA and NIST 800-53.
  • Experience in application of security as relates to data warehousing.
  • Must have a CISSP or equivalent certification (a certificate of security is not the same thing).
  • Experience in security application as relates to business intelligence applications or analytics would be helpful.
  • Prior experience as a security analyst is also a desired.

  • Prior experience with application of security policy
  • Working knowledge of networking, applications, database etc.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work on a team and communicate to all team members. Must have follow through. Needs to be self-driven.

  • Security Officer is a contract required, budgeted position for CA Medicaid Data Warehouse (MIS/DSS) project.
  • Responsible for coordinating, administering and supporting activities related data integrity, data access and confidentiality
  • Maintain awareness of current technology assets, and the applicability and capability of each
  • Understand and adhere to the Enterprise Architecture (EA) governance framework (e.g., principles, policies, standards, reference architectures, data-driven designs)
  • Seek opportunities for reuse of existing technology assets, and make appropriate recommendations
  • Maintain awareness of current business and industry issues/trends
  • Provide ad hoc consulting in applicable areas of expertise
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with HIPAA, and applicable NIST (National Institute Standards Technology)
  • Responsible for VMWare and managing and deploying complex virtual environments
  • Responsible for managing IT projects including costing, scheduling, coordination of multiple teams from project inception through QA and UAT to customer acceptance
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot user issues, server issues, security issues and network issues
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining firewall rules
  • Must be agile - the position requires a great deal of multitasking and the ability to make decisions in complex situations quickly
  • Responsible for enterprise size WINDOWS 2012 server network
