Apex Systems has an immediate opening for a Toxicology Lab Technician in the Santa Rosa CA area!
The main function of the Clinical Assistant is to receive and prepare urine specimens for processing in a production laboratory. Specifically, entering data from requisition forms and specimen bottles into the Laboratory database using a computer keyboard and/or bar code scanner. Position also entails receiving urine samples, removing packaging materials, and loading them into trays for processing. Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as within a group and manage ones time well.

Compensation: $37K base salary, with overtime and full benefits
Shift: Early morning and mid-morning shifts available, M-F or T-Sat or W-Sun possibility
 Required Education and Experience
  • Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • MUST be able to pass a drug screening (that includes marijuana screening) per federal regulations and guidelines

 Essential Functions
  • Responsible for performing assigned tests under the direction of senior laboratory personnel in accordance with the laboratory's procedure manual, ensuring that applicable quality control requirements are met. 
  • Ensures that test systems are in “control' for each test performed. 
  • Ensures that each test is performed according to the schedule outlined by laboratory protocol. 
  • Responsible for informing supervisory personnel of all problems associated with the proper performance of test procedures. 
  • Reports any actual or potential deviation from standard or accepted testing procedures, and cooperates fully with any investigation of same.
  • Actively supports and complies with laboratory policies and procedures. 
  • Maintains laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional and sanitary condition. 
  • Adheres to all established laboratory safety requirements. 
  • Required to use (a) personal protective equipment, Including Latex Gloves (b) engineering controls and/or (c) work practice controls as directed by management. 
  • Performs other job-related/miscellaneous duties as assigned by competent authority.
  • The position involves significant daily pipet work requiring hand dexterity and attention to detail.
  • The incumbent will also interface with analytical instruments (LC/MS/MS and GC/MS).
  • The ability to work safely with instruments/equipment, solvents and biological samples is necessary.
  • Attention to detail and team work are key for successful performance in this role.
