Mechanical Engineer
Apex systems the 2nd largest staffing firm in the nation is currently seeking a creative and insightful Mechanical Engineer to join my client’s AR/VR team. This position is located in the Seattle, WA, and is a great opportunity to advance your technical career with an industry leader!

Duties:
  • Develop structures, mechanisms, and solutions for next-generation consumer virtual reality hardware.
  • Take the lead exploring and refining major elements of the consumer.
  • Rift through hands-on, iterative prototyping, while working with a team of diverse, top engineers.
  • Refine selected designs and coordinate with manufacturing experts during the production process.
  • Design and develop new VR/AR hardware products
  • Own engineering activities for components or subassemblies from definition and creation, through design for manufacture and production.
  • Implement sound engineering processes and systematic approaches, while solving diverse design and manufacturing challenges.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical specifications including component and subassembly 2D technical drawings
  • Engineer parts and mechanisms that retain design intent and function according to specs.
  • Test and evaluate design components for manufacturability and structural integrity.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing experts to optimize part design and production processes, including assembly line set-up.
  • Support production throughout the manufacturing process to realize your designs.
  • Collaborate with designers and other engineering disciplines to identify challenges and offer solutions

 
Must Have:
  • 4+ years of previous experience designing consumer electronics, medical or similar products
  • 1+ years of Unigraphics NX
  • 3D and 2D CAD experience
  • Knowledge in mechanical fundamentals: Can speak to material properties, moment analysis, mechanical aptitude
  • Familiar w/ manufacturing knowledge and experience specifically with plastic injection molding (needs to be able to design a plastic part that can be tooled)

 
Nice to have:
  • PCB and FPC design experience including ECAD exchange process
  • Background driving China-based vendors remotely and in-person
  • Manufacturing knowledge and experience specifically with plastic injection molding, stamping, and die casting Experience building part and assembly prototypes in the shop

    Education: Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred
