Ensures that all incoming Home Medical Equipment (HME) rental and patient owned medical equipment is properly cleaned, disinfected, inspected, serviced, assembled, packaged and restocked. Ensures that all outbound HME equipment is clean, disinfected, safe and operating properly.
Essential Job Duties

•   1. Receiving: Receives, separates, and stores incoming HME equipment and accompanying documentation, including wheelchairs. Ensures all contaminated equipment is properly quarantined and stored. Maintains segregation of clean and dirty equipment in accordance with established Intermountain Homecare policies. Receives shipments / orders of supplies and equipment components. Ensures orders are properly disbursed.

•   2. Decontamination- Cleaning-Disinfection: Checks equipment for preventative maintenance (PM) due stickers and/or repair service tags during the receiving and cleaning process. Performs visual inspection of equipment during and after the cleaning process, paying special attention to vulnerable areas and components operated by patients or caregivers.

•   3. Inspection and Evaluation: Once a piece of HME equipment is disinfected/clean, function verification testing is performed which includes checking its overall appearance and safety. Performs full volumetric testing and performance verification on all incoming IV Infusion pumps including the 'volumetric accuracy' check mandated by Joint Commission. Tests Enteral pumps as needed and no less than once per year. Inspects all equipment for loose / missing components and excessive wear / damage that may affect its safe and proper functioning. Transfers equipment needing repair or due for preventative maintenance to Clinical Engineering.

•   4. Periodic Maintenance and Service of Equipment: Performs non-scheduled minor repairs / maintenance on equipment not meeting norms for functionality, safety and appearance. This can include minor consumable components (e.g., bolus cords, power packs, chargers, etc.) replacement under the direction of Clinical Engineering Technicians. Repackages each unit complete with its standard components and accessories according to department procedures and forwards all infusion pump related service requests, complaints or issues to the supervisor. Assists both internal and external customers in troubleshooting and resolving problems or issues with HME equipment.

•   5. Infection Control and Hazardous Materials Handling: Properly handles and disposes of infection or biohazard waste in clearly labeled containers. All hazardous waste items are handled using the appropriate personal protection gear.

•   6. Inventory Functions HME / Infusion Pumps / Wheelchair / Transfill: Assists in maintaining adequate inventory PAR levels of all HME equipment, cleaning supplies, repackaging supplies, and accessories utilized in the processing and cleaning of HME rental equipment. Assists in monitoring infusion pump par levels and restocking of repackaged units. Ensures units are scanned to maintain accurate tracking of location and status. Assists Infusion Pump Tracking Specialist as needed in the tracking, inventory, ordering, periodic maintenance and processing of all infusion pumps. Assists in maintaining an adequate level of Liquid Oxygen cylinders at all times sufficient to meet the needs of Homecare's clients for a 4 day period. Assists in maintaining an emergency stock of cylinders for unforeseeable events such as power outages or severe weather. Notifies the Clinical Engineering Supervisor when cylinder inventories are getting low so additional cylinders can be ordered.

•   7. Documentation: Receives and signs for incoming orders for parts and supplies. Logs equipment as cleaned and inspected on Clinical Engineering Equipment Processing (CEEP) Log. Properly documents cleanings and repair events into CPR Plus under the Equipment Manager. Scans equipment to the appropriate CPR Plus status using the scanner. Documents completed work in an accurate and timely manner using the Daily Cleaning (CEEP) Log; Wheelchair Cleaning and Service Log; and CPR Plus / MCCA scanning and tracking system.
Minimum Requirements

•   Demonstrated basic computer skills with word processing and email software.

•   Demonstrated ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.

•   Demonstrated ability to write accurately and legibly.

•   Demonstrated basic arithmetic skills plus a working knowledge of package and warehouse units and measurements.

•   Demonstrated ability to understand and apply basic department procedures and instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

•   Experience in medical equipment processing, shipping, receiving, distribution, stocking, or inventory control.

•   Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology

•   Demonstrated excellent computer skills with spreadsheet and word processing software, AS-400, and Electronic Tracking and Inventory Databases.
