Summary/Objectives

The Quality Control Chemist role analyzes samples of incoming raw materials, finished product and other relevant samples against established specifications using a range of modern analytical techniques with a focus on testing by GC-MS, HPLC, HPLC-MS and metals analysis by ICP-MS.

Essential Functions

  • Must follow all safety rules, Policies and GMP Procedures for which training is required and documented.
  • The successful candidate will perform routine analysis and will communicate results to the Production and Quality teams.
  • The role involves working closely with the QC and Production teams to support product manufacturing.
  • The position requires that most of the time spent will be hands-on laboratory work. This position is responsible for routine and non-routine analysis of samples.
  • Will be required to work with various chemicals-small quantities with moderate hazards.
  • Using a range of software, techniques and equipment to analyzing and interpret data.
  • Draft summary reports, making sure that data is accurately recorded in accordance to guidelines, and present results.
  • Keep up to date with scientific and technical developments.
  • Ensure that health and safety issues are adhered to.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, production and the scientific community on an as-needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Education and/or Experience – Relevant bachelor’s degree subjects are chemistry, applied/analytical chemistry or biochemistry. Two (2+) years’ experience in cGMP or other regulated laboratory environments preferably in chemical analysis related to the pharmaceutical, food, tobacco or CBD industry.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills – Experience using a breadth of analytical tools, with an initial focus on GC-Mass Spec.Proficient with various technologies and software commonly used in the industry.
  • Written Communication – Writes clearly and informatively. Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Oral Communication – Strong ability to speak in positive manner, listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings.

Hours and Travel

This is a full time position and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM however there may be night and weekend work to meet deadlines or the demands of the project. This position does not normally require travel and is mainly laboratory based.
