Location: Ridgefield NJ
Shift: M-F, 8-5

Primary Job Functions
  • Responsible for all Quality Assurance systems, procedures, and staff.
  • Manage and maintain the company’s Quality Management System
  • Responsible for the daily operation and performance of the Quality Assurance activities. 
  • Liaise with the QC Lead Operative/Supervisor to ensure all QC department procedures related to the testing for quality parameters of all incoming raw materials, intermediates and finished products are correct,
  • Serves as primary point of contact for technical and quality discussions with the customers.
  • Directs production for resolution of quality related issues and monitors production activities to identify quality-related process improvements.
  • Analyze processes and leads the continuous improvement program for the site.
  • Implementation and management of facility-wide GMP program
  • Implementation and management of HACCP program.
  • Ensures the Customer Complaint system is being used correctly, and complaints are being addressed in a timely manner.  Ensures root cause investigations are being completed correctly and that corrective actions are suitable adequate and effective.
  • Verifies the facility’s Pest Control program is being maintained.
  • Investigate and resolve supplier complaints with Purchasing Department and directly with the supplier as needed
  • Manage non-conformance control, material review board and corrective and preventive measures
  • Prepare and present all information for local and global Quality Management reviews
  • Responsible for supplier & contract manufacturer audits
  • Manage the Quality portion of the product return process
  • Ensures the supplier assessment program is effective.
  • Responsible for product quality subjects in the company training program in all areas and functions
  • Responsible for managing document control  
  • Manage product information sent directly to the customers
  • Ensures internal audits programs are completed on time and are suitable, adequate, and effective.
  • Maintains databases with quality information and is responsible for accuracy of the information
  • Ensure subordinate staff is motivated to improve the efficiency of their current duties and have clearly identified goals as well as understanding what they must accomplish to advance within the company
  • Enforce company personnel, operational and safety policies and procedures as they relate to all employees

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position reports to the General Manager, with a functional dotted line relationship to the Global QA Manager.
Decision Making Responsibility/Authority:
  • Oversee all aspects of QA Processes
  • Manage and determine quality procedures
  • Stop non-compliant processes, materials and shipments
  • Rejection of material and packaging
  • Approval of customer returns
  • Approval of rework or destruction
  • Approve exceptional calibration
  • Approve non-conformances
  • Manage incidents and crises

Knowledge and Skills
Previous related experience whether acquired from outside or from within the company, a person should have to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job:
  • Demonstrable ability to lead implementation and management of product safety programs.
  • Direct experience in the successful implementation and/or management of GMP, HACCP, pest control and related programs in flavor, food or food ingredient companies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Have a complete understanding of Global and US Food Regulations
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with ALL levels of the organization + external customers.
  • Direct experience in training ALL levels of the organization in Quality Assurance and product safety programs and their requirements.
  • Experience managing the Quality Assurance function within an integrated ERP operating environment (Oracle, SAP, Renaissance, etc.).

Special knowledge, skills, or training may be required to perform the job:
  • Familiarity with the requirements either SQF 2000 or FSCC 23000 certification.
  • Familiarity with requirements of certifications (Kosher, Halal, Organic, etc.) Able to lead implementation and processes.

Education and Experience (minimum requirements/equivalent): 
  • BA/BS Degree, Science or Food Technology
  • Minimum of 5 years combined experience in direct management of a Quality Assurance program within the flavor, food and/or food ingredient industries.
