The Temple Portfolio of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is seeking a skilled and
motivated professional to work as a QA Engineer for temples and priesthood leaders worldwide.
The QA Engineer  usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superiors on unusual
matters. The engineer may be assisted by entry/junior or intermediate-level personnel. Assignments
are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity. He/she conducts a wide range of quality
control tests and analyses to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-
user requirements. The engineer drafts, revises, and approves test plans and scripts to ensure
alignment with standards and IT strategy. The engineer creates test data files with valid and invalid
records to thoroughly test program logic and verify system flow. The engineer coordinates with users
to plan user acceptance testing, which includes alpha and beta testing. The engineer also ensures
that system tests are successfully completed, documented, and all problems are resolved.
This is a contingent role and is expected to last one year and is eligible for a one-year renewal
based on performance, need, and budget.
Education: Requires a Bachelor’s of Science in computer science or closely related field
Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience
? Experience with the full product release cycle on multiple successful software projects
? Extensive experience in both UI and N-Tier data center products, including experience in
testing low-level systems
? Experience in testing JAVA API’s, Restful Web Services, and Web/Rich Client applications
? Experience in testing systems for scalability, fault tolerance, load, and other operational
areas for a data center based service is beneficial
? Well-versed in Linux with extensive bash experience
? Current experience with Windows and C#/C++ is acceptable if prior experience includes the
Java language development/test experience and Linux platform experience with the shell
? Excellent communication and teamwork skills
? Experienced in testing products in an Agile development life cycle
? History of learning and adapting quickly
? Empirical, analytical, engineering mindset
? Self-starter and an independent worker
? Java programming experience
? Able to return and report daily regarding work and progress
? Self-starter and, though an independent worker, must work well with the team
? Planning, creating, and executing strategic manual and automated test plans
? Execute the vision, direction, and discipline of Software Quality Assurance within the
? Ability to understand and identify the root causes of problems and to think abstractly on how
to solve problems
? Participate with the test lead to identify best test methodologies and/or use of appropriate
test harnesses that could reduce overall QA test times
? Execute as a team using the methods of Scrum
? Develop and maintain up-to-date industry skills in quality assurance and test automation
? Participate in teaching others the QA processes & technologies and the appropriate areas in
which they should be applied
? Determine creative, innovative, and cost-effective ways to meet requirements and
? Embody a high degree of motivation and instill this quality in others
