Job Scope & Purpose:
Come join a growing Biotech that is pioneering new RNA-targeting small molecule therapies for genetic types of cancer. Our Exclusive client is seeking a strong cell and molecular biologist to help them design and execute assay and screening technologies in the lab.  In this role, you will perform both basic and specialized molecular biology and cell biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation, DNA/RNA QC, RT-qPCR, sequencing library preparation, cell culture, and in vitro drug screens.  You will have had prior Biotech industry experience and hands-on expertise with methods involving RNA expression.  You also will help build the lab protocols, equipment, and keep lab operations running smoothly as this role is the first hire as the team is brand new.  If this role sounds exciting contact Danny Hagenbuch and the Stratacuity R&D team today to learn more.
Primary Role Responsibilities:
  • Design and conduct molecular and cellular biology experiments for compound screening or mechanistic/cancer pathway analysis using human cancer cell lines or engineered mammalian cell lines
  • Mammalian cell culture experience and RNA/DNA extraction from mammalian/murine cell lines
  • Help design and execute RT-qPCR and gene sequencing protocols for gene expression and splice variant detection
  • Detection and quality control of RNA in sample by Northern blot (experience in gel electrophoresis strongly encouraged)
  • Work closely with senior/principal scientist and biology/chemistry group leaders to design, develop, and execute experiment protocols
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (both electronic and paper) with accuracy and responsibility. Upload biology data into company database
  • in vitro and/or cell-based drug screening assays
  • Manage external collaboration with CRO to ensure data quality and timely troubleshooting
  • Help maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are strictly followed at all times and maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Summarize obtained data in an organized and presentable fashion

Primary Role Requirements:
  • B.S. or M.S. with 2+ years of industry experience in cancer discovery
  • Experience in small molecule cancer drug discovery and RNA biology is highly desirable
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment on an interdisciplinary team
  • Must have excellent written, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to think critically, make timely decisions, and manage deadlines. Flexibility and willingness to grow and learn within an evolving biotech environment.
