Apex Systems is seeking a SCADA Engineer for a direct hire position located in Akron, OH. Required Experience:
  • SCADA engineering experience (EMS-preferred)
  • Data communications and networking skills/knowledge
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and/or RTU Programming
  • Great Communication and documentation skills

Education Requirement:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree is required

Job Functions:
  • Managing SCADA asset lifecycles, including establishing and coordinating maintenance programs for RTUs and associated equipment.
  • Provide support and monitoring across the enterprise.
  • Coordinating engineering and commissioning activities with multiple groups involved in the SCADA delivery process – such as Regional Engineering, IT Network Engineering, Real Time Operations, and ED Planning & Protection.
  • Accurate and detailed documentation skills.
  • Great phone support.
  • Performing resource scheduling, point-to-point checkouts, troubleshooting, inventory maintenance, and regulatory compliance (change control activities, configuration management, password changes, etc.) activities.
  • Issuing as-left settings.
  • Providing 2nd-level field support for commissioning activities.
  • Managing schedules and coordinate changes following established department procedures.

Preferred experience:
  • RTU’s “Remote Terminal Unit” experience
  • Great documentation and attention to detail
  • EMS “energy Management Systems” experience
  • Ability to effectively use standard PC software, web-based systems, e-mail, relational database query tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels and with varying backgrounds.
  • Experience in providing responsive and effective customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and plan work, work on multiple concurrent tasks, and meet deadlines.

Work Schedule:
  • Ability and willingness to travel to Company sites, work flexible hours, and be available for call-in and after-hours support (7x24 operations)
