Purpose of Position/Summary:

Apex Systems, the second largest technical staffing firm in the nation, is searching for a Senior Project Manager for a large client in Indianapolis, Indiana. This Project Manager will manage, plan, execute, monitor and control the activities of medium to large information technology projects and teams.  They will work collaboratively within the division to ensure quality, timely project implementations and business adoption.  Employee will report to the Project Management Office Manager performing management tasks for the child support systems - Indiana Support Enforcement Tracking System (ISETS) and the Indiana Verification and Enforcement of Support (INvest) system.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Manage medium to large complex projects;
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with CSB-IT staff, other county/agency staff, and/or contracted resources.
  • Create, review and maintain project management plans, charters, schedules, communication matrices, risk/issue logs and lessons learned at a minimum.
  • Manage projects according to the approved Governance policies and procedures.
  • Utilize the MS Project to monitor milestones, tasks, and deliverables against the baseline project schedule, taking action to address any variance, and reporting variances and corrective actions to the PMO Manager.
  • Schedule, prepare for and facilitates project meetings.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders and address issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist PMO Manager with PMO management activities.
  • Mentor project manager intermediates and other support staff within the PMO.
  • Lead facilitation and development of governance policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage lessons learned to continually improve the Governance policies and procedures.
  • Maintain project artifacts according to the CSB document management strategy.
  • Create and support a team atmosphere and work environment to promote team productivity.
  • Manage triage processes as assigned by the PMO Manager.
  • Develop and present project and PMO portfolio reports as needed.
  • Train PMO staff on Governance manual policies procedures.
  • Work with PMO Manager to establish performance expectations.
  • Develop and submit weekly status reports for all assigned activities.

 

Job Requirements:

  • 7+ years of project management experience. 
  • 3+ years of experience in managing large, complex multi-year projects.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft products such as Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Project, and Visio.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Project 2013.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of PMBOK project management practices including cost management, benefit analysis, risk management, resource management and change control.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of SDLC and IT governance methodologies, tools and approaches to successful project implementations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the IBM Rational tools.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, encourage and influence others to perform.
  • Ability to analyze, produce solutions and solve project issues.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships across business groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Business Knowledge of IV-D and Child Support Enforcement preferred.
  • Experience in state government preferred.
