Job Scope and Purpose:
Our Greater Boston based client, focused on the development of inhaled therapeutics for respiratory diseases, is seeking a leader for Analytical Development drug development programs.  The ideal individual would have expertise in inhaled product testing (delivered dose testing and cascade impaction) as well as techniques used for small molecules (HPLC, UPLC, KF, UV/Vis).  This role will oversee analytical method development, transfer and validation, and routine testing, and coordinate with Quality Control to facilitate that work at CROs. Additionally, this hire will support CMC strategy for novel formulations as members of CMC project teams and will work with junior staff in developing and implementing a range of analytical testing methods for inhaled dosage formulations. 
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop analytical methods for the characterization of drug substance and drug product intermediates
  • Plan, execute and document method development, analyses and qualification assessment activities related to drug product development
  • Document, compile, interpret, and audit data
  • Lead aerosol testing and specifications development
  • Design and oversee stability studies
  • Work with quality control to oversee contract organizations performing method transfer, method validation, and stability testing
  • Author, review, and approve documents for regulatory submissions
  • Represent Analytical Development in cross-functional projects and team settings

Primary Job Requirements:
  • Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field
  • BS with a minimum of 10 years industry experience, MS with at least six years industry experience, or Ph.D. with at least three years industry experience
  • Expertise in chromatographic techniques (HPLC/UPLC/GC), including troubleshooting of methodology and/or equipment
  • Expertise in wet chemistry and general analytical lab techniques, and in development and validation of analytical methods
  • Expertise in aerosol characterization required
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Experience supervising and providing guidance to junior team members
  • May require travel to contract organizations – estimated travel approximately 5-10%
