Apex Systems is currently seeking a Sensor Engineer for one of our clients near Indianapolis, IN. This will be a contract to hire opportunity. For immediate consideration please send resumes to Lauren Pritts at lpritts@apexsystems.com. 
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for supplier verification and validation of sensor design and manufacture process changes. 
  • Review/approve product validation testing and work with suppliers and customers to implement enhancements to engine electronics.
  • The sensors this individual will be working with are variable geometry turbocharger speed sensors, TMAP sensors (thermal sensors), electronic fuel rail pressure sensors and oxygen sensors in diesel, natural gas and propane engines for trucks, power generation, marine and locomotive applications. 
  • Responsible for design and process changes/enhancements for engine position, variable geometry turbocharger speed, mass air flow, temperature, pressure, and oxygen sensors in diesel and natural gas engines. 

Skills and Experience Required:
  • Cross-Functional Design Review - Cross-functional design reviews are a series of in-depth and disciplined sessions that bring broad cross-functional experience to bear on designs/or process approaches and details. Able to apply the cross-functional design review procedure with limited guidance.
  • Engineering Standards - Developing knowledge in Engineering Standards.
  • Technical Documentation - Developing knowledge in Technical Documentation.
  • Product Structure - Product structure involves an understanding of the rationale around the identification of product items and the methodology for structuring this information into saleable, manufacturable and serviceable product. Users are expected to demonstrate proficiency in understanding and applying product structure rules such as item compatibilities, dependencies and relationships.
  • Intellectual Property - Understands what is meant by the term Intellectual Property (IP) and has some basic understanding the importance of protecting IP for both the corporation and the individual inventors.

Experience:
  • Ideally 3 -5 years of professional experience
  • Must have sensor design experience (TMAP, pressure sensors, oxygen sensors, etc.)

Required Education:
  • Bachelor of Science or Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and/or Physics.
