This function is accountable for IT solutions maintenance, enhancements, availability and automation.  IT solutions include the technologies, processes and tools needed to meet business needs.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Engineer Workplace applications
    • Engineer and implement upgrades, patches or enhancements to the Exchange and SharePoint environment
    • Perform research, develop requirements, cost benefit analysis/justifications and recommendations for new technology
  • Support Workplace applications
    • Responding to and resolving escalated incidents and problems for Office and related products
    • On a rotational bais, provide off hour support for critical issues
    • Develop, automate, execute and continually improve processes to support the use of the workplace solutions
  • Plans future state for new or existing IT solutions. 
    • Researches technologies and technology markets.  Identifies and documents technology trends and industry best practices.  Educates IT management.
    • Manages IT stakeholder expectations and communicates IT technology plans.
    • Manages technology roadmaps and plans.  This includes execution, budget and cross-functional coordination.
    • Consults on technology usage and reviews IT solutions for adherence to technology standards and guidelines.
  • Performs related activities as directed, and manages personal self-development to prepare for new responsibilities and challenges in a changing environment.
    • Participates in architecture, planning, selection, engineering and support on initiatives led by other associates in IT.  Performs special IT projects and assignments.
    • Develops an understanding of applicable enterprise and IT policies, standards, guidelines, methodologies, and procedures and applies them effectively to job assignments and accountabilities.
    • Participates in program management, project management and Agile activities as required.
    • Continues personal development through advanced technical and professional training.  This can be accomplished via in-house classes, external courses and seminars, industry training, participation in professional organizations, and/or relevant outside reading.
  • Develops new and enhanced business applications. 
    • Analyzes requirements. Designs and documents application designs.
    • Builds, tests, configures, deploys, and documents business applications, application frameworks, common components and supporting processes.
    • Develops and recommends new or revised application standards and guidelines.
    • Provides subject matter expertise and mentors less experienced staff in the analysis and design of applications.

 
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
 
  • Knowledge of the architecture and engineering of Exchange, SharePoint and Office 365
  • Understanding of Securian’s business strategies, goals and requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of IT technologies and infrastructure architectures.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
  • Good planning and prioritization skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills, risk assessment and management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and schedules, handle multiple issues simultaneously, and to manage stressful situations.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with and translate between various levels of associates (IT management, technical staff, business area customers, external parties).
  • Skill to provide subject matter expertise and mentor less experienced staff.
