Job Title: Sr. Electrical R&D Engineer
Location: Mansfield, MA
Type: Contract for 6 months
Pay Rate: $30.00/hour to $40.00/hour

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
A Senior Research and Development Engineer for Electro-mechanical Group will perform design and development as well as product sustaining engineering activities. These activities will cover all phases of the product life cycle from concept through end of life. The individual in this position will often lead small projects but will also assume an individual contributor role. The engineer must have the flexibility of skill and temperament to work in both product development, and product change development. Attention to detail and working knowledge of regulations for the medical device industry are essential. The engineer must be able to work in a team environment and be able to communicate clearly across all disciplines including Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Marketing and outside design partners and regulatory agencies.

As part of our team you will:
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Medical Devices.
  • Work with cross functional groups to specify electrical system architecture, write system requirements, and test protocols.
  • Utilize concepts and process for Design for manufacturability (DFM) and Design for reliability (DFR).
  • Design microprocessor and micro-controller medical device applications.
  • Navigate complex processes and systems to include USB, I2C, SPI, RS-232. Work with MOSFET, BJT, PWM circuit designs and Li-Ion battery designs.
  • Provide expertise in the area of analog and digital electronics circuits to include circuit design, prototype development, component procurements, Design of Experiments (DOE), EMI/ EMC testing, design verification and validation.
  • Understand and utilize failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), power budget, thermal budget, and design margins.
  • Design medical device products for EMC, ESD, and electrical safety per IEC 60601-1.
  • Provide guidance and understanding to navigate product certifications and industry regulations to include CE, UL, IEC, ISO-13485 and ISO-14971.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical design, 5 years preferable.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Analog, digital, mixed signal, microprocessor and micro-controller electronics circuits to include circuit design, prototype development, component procurements, EMI/ EMC testing, design verification and validation.
  • Digital embedded designs to include uP, uC, USB, I2C, SPI, RS-232, LVDS, TMDS; MOSFET, BJT, PWM circuit designs, DC/Stepper motor drives and Li-Ion battery designs.
  • Design for manufacturability (DFM) and Design for reliability (DFR); Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Product certifications and industry regulations to include CE, UL, IEC, ISO-13485 and ISO-14971; Design for EMC, ESD, and electrical safety per IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2; and Failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), power budget, thermal budget, and design margins.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Software programming languages C/C++, RTOS, Linux and Python.
