Job Scope & Purpose:

Our established Cambridge-based biotech partner is seeking a talented leader for its Downstream Process Development team, focusing on pioneering loading processes for its exciting development platform.   This individual will provide strong technical and scientific expertise, and leadership of drug process development for loading, cleanup, filtration, and formulation, as well as assisting in developing new processes for harvest purification.  As part of a growing start-up company, these new team members will be uniquely exposed to a broad range of activities both inside and outside of the laboratory. Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute and analyze loading processes for diverse molecules, including nucleic acids, small molecules and proteins
  • Develop unit operations for the enabling and formulation of durable loaded drug product
  • Create advanced small-scale models and characterization capabilities
  • Scale-up processes from bench to pilot and GMP clinical manufacturing scale
  • Execute technology transfer through clinical manufacturing
  • Execute data interpretation, document writing, statistical analysis and trending, and presenting to senior management or external partners, as needed
  • Manage junior personnel and potentially operate in project leadership role
  • Author patents and scientific manuscripts and assist in authoring regulatory documents

Job Requirements

  • PhD in chemistry, polymer chemistry, biochemical engineering or applicable area of study, with 6-10 years of related experience
  • Expertise of concepts and scientific principles, and proficiency in organic and polymer chemistry
  • Experience developing process with liposomes and lipid nanoparticles required
  • Background in applying advanced technologies for method development of loading nanoparticle payloads
  • Previous experience in developing and transferring production processes for nanoparticles to external manufacturing partners is required
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, and work ethic and desire to be a part of a nimble, fast-paced work environment
