Apex Systems is a large staffing and consulting firm and we are looking for a Work Station Specialist with experience incident management/responses/process for our client, an Enterprise Insurance Company.

Contract/Perm: Contract until December 31st, rolling
Location: Downtown Toronto, London or Winnipeg

Job Description/Key Accountability:
We are looking for a Workstation Technical Specialist to join the Desktop Services team. The contract would be until December 31, 2019 and we are having interviews completed next week.
The Workstation Technical Specialist provides 2nd level support for standard and unique workstation incidents, within established service targets, to business units connected to our corporate network as well as remotely supporting a mobile work force occasionally attached to the corporate network.  Incident response and resolution includes network connectivity both LAN and remote VPN, standard equipment and software such as desktops, laptops, monitors, LAN printers, personal mobile devices and non-standard or unique hardware such as tablet PCs, multi-function devices, dual monitor configurations requiring TV tuners/additional video cards, and specialized MICR cheque printers.  The workstation team is also responsible for maintaining the currency for patches/fixes of base operating systems and core software for certified workstation builds, maintaining security infrastructure applications, and providing subject matter expertise for projects and the annual health assessment process across the companies.
Incidents are referred by the Company’s Service Desk and other second level teams in compliance with current incident resolution processes. The successful candidate will manage and maintain workstation infrastructure security and applications.

Key Qualifications:
  • Experience in incident management, software & processes (remedy and/or service now)- must resolve 80 incidents per month
  • Experience in working in 2nd Level Support
  • Must have strong trouble shooting skills – will ask questions like “how would you troubleshoot this?” – must know if it’s a user problem or a computer problem
  • Need to have experience working in a network/infrastructure environment
  • Need to have experience working with desktop tools – various types
  • Experience with tools like: active directory, check security, group policy, command lying tools, task manager – to check on performance type issues, wireshark, powershell,
  • Need to have experience with Skype & O365
  • Must have a great attitude and able to hit the ground running

Nice to Have:
  • Powershell, azure, wireshark
