POSITION SUMMARY
 
Our Large Retail/ Beauty client is looking for an Associate Product Manager to help deliver the next iteration of our In-Store experience. In this role, you be the representative of the business and our clients to our apps development teams. You will ensure that they have everything they need to maintain and create in store applications – clear requirements, specs, designs, etc. Where things are not clear, you will work with business and technical teams to clarify the approach. After that, you will check what has been done to see that it meets expectations. Ongoing, you will manage and prioritize defects that QA discovers, working with developers to resolve the highest priority bugs swiftly and efficiently. He/She will have the pleasure of working on fun, innovative applications like Advisor Assistant, Virtual Artists, Online Reservations for makeup services at the stores, POS integration – all in support of our 500 plus stores in the US and CA.  What could be more fun than that?
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • The main function of this role is to be the Product Team’s JIRA board manager for Sephora's in-store applications. This entails:
    • Daily review, triage and prioritization of bugs;
    • Attendance at daily standup meetings;
    • At the beginning of a sprint cycle, work with Product Managers to identify user stories for consideration, helping to negotiate which stories get played and which move to a future sprint;
    • Throughout a sprint cycle, monitor the JIRA boards and reports to ensure product is helping Engineers and QA get the information they need to work fluidly on stories and bugs;
    • Communicate updates and process changes to the broader Product Management Team;
    • Work closely with Project Management and Developers to continuously improve the sprint and board management process. 
    • Manage stories and bugs on other relevant JIRA boards
  • Collaborates with internal business partners (Retail Ops, Store Experience Teams) to refine requirements and define enhancements, creating buy-in from other teams as necessary.
    • Synthesizes business needs, identifies areas of uncertainty, recommends solutions, gathers buy-in from relevant stakeholders, rolls solution out to team, shepherds feature through development and reviews code before rollout.
  • Vets scope, requirements, use case/user scenario,  design specifications, in partnership with developers, UX, product managers, QA, design and 3rd party vendors. Proactively identifies issues. 
  • Collaborates with internal business partners to refine requirements and define enhancements, creating buy-in from other teams as necessary.
  • Vets scope, requirements, use case/user scenario, test case documents and design specifications, in partnership with marketing, Employee Services, UX, product managers, QA, design and 3rd party vendors. Proactively identifies issues. Works closely with key business leaders at senior levels.
  • Synthesizes business requirements, identifies areas of uncertainty, recommends solutions, gathers buy-in from relevant stakeholders, rolls solution out to team, shepherds feature through development and reviews code before rollout.
  • Develops metrics to measure success of program features, analyzes results, and partners across the organization to develop action plans and enhancement recommendations.
  • Projects expected to focus on interactions within areas of the apps, such as: Homepage, Category pages, Brand pages, Search & Results pages, Product Page, Community and internal tools used to drive said experiences.

 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:
  • Superior relationship-building, communication and negotiation skills within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to identify and understand user problems related to both the internal and external client and recommends practical solutions.
  • Nimble and flexible with regards to changing priorities & business needs, and in working with diverse teams & people. Proven ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects — excellent at prioritization, planning, task delegation, and working with peers in a cross-functional setting.
  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to ferret out the simple, practical solution over the overwrought and complicated.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, MS Office, communication platforms (Slack, MS Teams, ZOOM) and other industry-standard tools.
  • Deep understanding of the front-end capabilities of both iOS and Android app platforms.
  • Highly motivated, self-sufficient, and be able to operate effectively without close supervision.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.

 
2) Minimum educational level:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required

 
3) Minimum experience:
  • 2-3 years experience in product management with a successful history of launching highly effective products for large transactional websites.
