Overview: Apex Systems, the nation’s second largest IT staffing and technology services firm, has an immediate opening for an AWS Cloud Engineer to sit on-site in Washington, DC. 




  • Candidate is expected to support our government client in creating secure AWS deployments and innovative cloud solutions.
  • The Cloud Engineer should be able to design and execute security architecture blueprints and bring it to reality with a DevSecOps mindset & culture.
  • Candidate should be able to build and configure build plans, code pipelines and create automated solutions that can be frame worked and re-used.
  • Finally, the candidate should become a subject matter expert and evangelize the latest technologies and tools to provide better efficiency and solution to other teams.


  • Candidate should understand the AWS security architecture best practices and be able to articulate them to the customer as they relate to the customer’s AWS implementations.
  • Candidate also needs to understand AWS logging capabilities and use of a Splunk SIEM solution to aggregate and alert on cloud security anomalies.
  • An understanding of change management approaches for AWS IaaS configurations is also needed.
  • This is a “hands-on” position which requires the Candidate to have solid experience configuring AWS services, configuration Splunk to ingest AWS log data, and writing “glueware” (Python, etc.) to handle ingest and process AWS log data and AWS configuration data.
  • Candidate must be able to provide “keystroke” level documentation of NG’s recommended AWS logging and configuration data integration approach to the customer which will be used by DoJ components.

The candidate will interact regular with DoJ customers as well as other senior architects / engineers requiring excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Education Requirements:

  • 12 years experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree


  • Candidates must be US citizens and able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense Secret / Top Secret security clearance as a condition of employment.
  • 12 Years’ experience as an executive assistant and editor or technical writing skills, experience with the Department of Justice, experience working at a client’s site.
