Azure Engineer

Requirements:

  • Significant experience working in a Cloud Environment using applications in Cloud providers, including Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience in writing code and executing technical, analytical and configuration tasks is expected.
  • Expert skills in the Azure suite of products including design, development and Deployment
  • Expert in cloud - on-premise integrations
  • We really want people with experience in code versioning (such as GIT), automated deployment processes (such as Jenkins), experience in Agile (such SCRUM or KANBAN), appreciation of Agile software (such as JIRA or Team Foundation Server).

Education:
  • A Bachelor's (or higher) degree focused in Computer Science, MIS/IT, Mathematics or a hard science.

  • Lead a small, multi-functional team. You will play an integral role in growing the team of architects, engineers, developers and external partners while demonstrating your leadership values through delegation, motivation and trust.   • Work with our IT&S colleagues & external partners to understand their needs and how we can best meet these needs.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external


Other:
  • Craft, develop and support application solutions (assist in production issue resolution).
  • Re-engineer highly complex program components including code generation.
  • Maximize reuse across all existing assets
  • Assist post-production deployment and support to a (potentially global) user community.
  • Lead decisions regarding the integration of software packages and programs.
  • In charge of high-level issues, assist in setting standards and best practice for the team and the organisation.
  • Drive abstractions that enable us to deliver a consistent, global service to our community across a diverse platform of assets and business units. Your ability to rapidly learn technologies and integrate them into an overall vision for the team helps set you apart.
  • Define and implement our Azure digital strategy for all business units in Upstream, allowing for maximum reuse.
  • Understand User Stories written in the format 'As A, I want, So That' and translate them into program specifications.


Challenges:
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes in demand pipeline.
  • Prioritization of Demand from teams within Upstream as well as other SPUs
  • Building a high performing team that will be operational as quickly as possible to satisfy the growing demand.
  • Getting the right balance between fast paced delivery and operational integrity.
  • Being able to keep up with technological advances and trends within the industry
  • Difficulty to provide accurate estimations, this will improve as the team matures.
