Summary Description:

Technical BA, who's been part of SaaS implementation work in a large global organization.

 

The Business Analyst is responsible for applying analytical skills to determine and document accurate business requirements and present these requirements in a manner that is concise, measurable and flexible enough to meet project and stakeholder needs. The emphasis in the role is to take responsibility for larger, more complex or mission critical assignments and understand the requirements from the business perspective and translate them into the appropriate System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) deliverable. A key part of the role is to oversee the documentation of these requests or requirements, so that, the requests and requirements are unambiguous, consistent and not in contradiction with each other.

 

This role is responsible for developing or modifying large, complex or mission critical information systems, including analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary. The role will have full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and understands the SDLC development methodology. 

 

 

Strategic & Technical Orientation / Job Content: 

Application and Depth of Expertise - This role requires a deep understanding of technology and also requires deep expertise in development methodologies such as Object Oriented, Rational Unified Process, Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, ERP, Maintenance, COTS implementation, Model-driven Architecture, etc.

 

This role is responsible for:

  • Leading the design of larger projects or multiple workstream/projects, within the constraints of the requirements, architecture, and business analysis process for the projects.
  • Deep expertise in particular technical domain area(s) and with the integration of the technical domains in key business applications.
  • Deep expertise in execution of System Development Life Cycle methodologies.

 

Range of Impact: 

Direction and Discretion - This role is responsible for managing and overseeing multiple development work streams/projects or a large development project with multiple work streams throughout the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).  Manages all technical issues and resolves complex technical issues for the area of responsibility on the project.  The Business Analyst will ensure that the work products fulfil the requirements of the project along with adhering to Client development standards and SDLC processes and deliverables.

 

 

Scope of responsibility: 

Manages the processes used in the SDLC  in conjunction with the BAU Programme Leader. Contributes technical feedback on project/workstream work products; this feedback must be timely and appropriate. Provides timely feedback to project team members on the work products they have submitted for review. Leads and coordinates requirements elicitation by outlining the system's functionality and delimiting the system.

  • Leads large or strategic and tactical projects, which will revolutionize or improve business processes
  • Responsible that appropriate and consistent SDLC standards are followed
  • Responsible for BA deliverables and activities in SDLC
  • Provides modelling of the business processes (UML) and understands the business need and impacts of the proposed solution
  • Assesses and manages risk of requirements on the business organization and across multiple IT applications
  • Uses multiple elicitation techniques such as facilitating brainstorming sessions, focus groups, and/or requirements workshops with the purpose of requirements elicitation
  • Creates models to determine the problem/opportunity that can be addressed
  • Conducts analyses of opportunities in order to clarify priorities and value
  • Assists with estimating Business Analyst effort and staffing approach on projects
  • Shares cross functional business and application knowledge on projects
  • Contribution to achievement of Client IT objectives and overall Client strategic objectives.
  • Adherence to SDLC used for workstream/project development
  • Quality metrics for development team managed by Business Analyst Lead
  • Project success metrics such as on time delivery, cost/budget, fulfilment of requirements
  • Customer and client feedback
  • Number and quality of submission of knowledge of best practices within and across teams

Education Level:

Undergraduate Degree (e.g., BA, BS) or equivalent experience

 

Experience Level:

5 - 8 Years Experience

 

Other Details:

IIBA Certified preferred, but not required; however familiarity with the BABOK expected.

  • Broad IT industry knowledge (but does not require programming experience)
  • For ERP project - Deep functional knowledge of ERP applications such as PeopleSoft or SAP, including the ability to configure the ERP application
  • Familiarity with at least one of the following tools:
  • Rational Requisite Pro / Requisite Web
