The Business Analyst I serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to help provide technical solutions to meet user needs. Possesses working knowledge of the business unit(s) they support, as well as an understanding of the IT organization’s systems and capabilities. Provides complex analysis services translating user needs into detailed specifications to allow IT Department to deliver an appropriate solution.





1. Analyzes business operations to understand strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions.


2. Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology.


3. Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications.


4. Assists Project Managers in development of project plans and uses associated project planning tools as needed throughout the Software Development Lifecycle.


5. Conducts analysis with a focus on developing business models to represent requirements, such as use cases, business process flows, data flow diagrams, etc.


6. Obtains, captures, and validates needed information from stakeholders to form requirements through various analysis techniques. Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications   for the IT organization. Responsible for requirements management, approval, change, and traceability. Works on multiple projects as a project team member.





1.  Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field and two years of work experience in a similar position.


2.  Experience in requirements gathering and process improvement coordination preferred.


3.  Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical, problem- solving, and conceptual skills.


4.  Must be able to work efficiently amidst constant interruptions and under rigid deadlines.


5.  Must be highly proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio.
