BASIC FUNCTIONS
Plans, organizes and coordinates the efforts of delivering continuous improvement services requested by Corporate Management in support of the corporate vision, mission, critical issues, tactics, goals and objectives. Support is offered to all divisions and departments of the company and includes interaction with associates at all levels. Associates in the Business Consulting Division are expected to utilize department accepted and standard project management methodology. The incumbent should support Project Consultants and the Business Consulting Division through the steps of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing business-improvement projects. It is critical the position stays knowledgeable of project management techniques and ongoing initiatives throughout the organization. The incumbent will assist in the project management process by providing documentation and requirements-gathering resources.
 
ENVIRONMENT
The Business Consulting Division provides support for the company through project management and business consulting services. These activities include following standard project management methodology and adaptation of the plan to address the concerns and expectations of the impacted areas of the company. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing, documenting, and analyzing processes using excellent interviewing techniques and multiple software products. Consultants may work on their projects independently and will have multiple projects in progress at any one time. The incumbent will be a vital member of the project leadership team and be an important part of creating a favorable and productive environment. Projects will vary in scope and the degree of guidance provided by the Project Consultant(s) and/or Manager, Business Consulting.
 
WORKFLOW
Project assignments may come from the Manager, Department Manager, or Vice President, Business Consulting, and/or the division’s Project Consultants. The incumbent’s activities will require direct interaction with the business owner either independently or in conjunction with the project consultant(s). Supervision is indirect and the incumbent’s work is reviewed periodically throughout the project. The incumbent is subject to standardized practices, procedures, and work instructions. Projects will have clearly stated deliverables and due dates. The incumbent will be required to have or to obtain training in the areas of Project Management or related software applications.
 
KNOWLEDGE
A Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field is required. The incumbent must have a background in continuous improvement, quality initiatives, business problem solving,
 
Operations management, and/or organizational behavior acquired through experience in business management, project management, information services or various engineering disciplines. Knowledge of the principles of project management is critical to effectively provide business consulting services to the organization. Incumbent must have proven skills in the areas of workflow documentation, requirements gathering and relationship building.
 
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required, as well as the proven ability to learn new software products and applications. Utilization of software tools to provide project documentation, requirements and workflow will be required. An acceptable testing score is required.
 
At this level, the incumbent is required to have three years’ experience as a Business Analyst/ Business Consultant and/or proven experience in the support of enterprise level projects according to assigned responsibilities.
 
THINKING REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent must have strong analytical and communication skills as well as the ability to independently evaluate a business process to identify areas for improvement. Discovery work must be performed with potentially many different areas of the company, and the incumbent must be able to quickly understand the workflows involved and to help the business owner identify possible solutions and alternatives. Based on the best solution, the incumbent will work with the Project Consultant to help the business owner achieve the desired outcome. It is important that the incumbent stay current on major corporate initiatives and applications to be able to offer the services of the division to advance the outcomes of the projects and foster good relationships. The incumbent must have strong writing and documentation skills.
 
INTERFACES AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
The incumbent has contact with all levels of associates in each division and department of the company. The incumbent must have the ability to effectively communicate and present outcomes and solutions to business owners and management. Relationship building and communication skills are essential. The incumbent may be asked to lead meetings both internally and with multiple divisions, and effective performance of this task is critical to success in the position. With some projects, the incumbent is also a liaison between Client and third-party vendors and/or a business associate.
 
AUTHORITY AND DECISION MAKING
The incumbent will work closely with the Project Consultant(s) and business owner to identify requirements and guidelines and to prepare a project plan that includes objectives, scope, and deliverables for a project. The incumbent will provide input on the appropriate analytical approach, and will contribute the technical and documentation resources to provide successful project management and support. The incumbent will remain highly-involved in the project through completion. The incumbent is expected to be able to operate independently and with limited supervision.
