Cable installers will be tasked to install CAT6 cables from telecommunications closets to pre-determined locations, usually in a ceiling, though the location could vary depending on the physical layout of the room.  Each cable run will include a total of 3 cables, 2 of which will be terminated for future use, and one of which will be connected to a Netscout sensor (the installer will also be responsible for mounting the sensor at the assigned location) and the assigned switch port.  The installers will provide a service loop at the end of each drop to allow for repositioning of the sensors as directed by project manager. Cable/sensor assignments will be provided daily or weekly by the project manager, as required.  Each day the installers will report progress to the project manager. The progress report will include completed assignments as well as any problems encountered that prevented a cable/sensor set from being installed.  The installers will label each sensor as directed by the project manager. 

Cable installers and telecom technicians need the ability to distinguish wire colors, excellent technical skills and the ability to reason through problems when troubleshooting issues. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team are required. Manual dexterity, physical stamina and strength are necessary as the job frequently requires lifting heavy equipment or tools and being active for extended periods.
