Apex Systems is seeking a Chemist to work with a prominent pharmaceutical company in Minnetonka, MN. Ideal candidates will have analytical and pharmaceutical experience, a B.S in Chemistry, and UPLC knowledge. This is a temp to hire opportunity for the right person. Job Description

• Utilization of chemistry skills will allow for performing of complex testing of incoming raw materials and in-process testing of combo drug product. 

• Independently drive execution of continuous improvement projects and development of new, efficient analytical methods.

• Project work will focus on process improvements involving new technologies and new applications for existing technologies to reduce turnaround time and cost and/or enhance quality and efficiency.

Purpose Statement:

The purpose of the Chemist I  role is to conduct analytical testing of raw materials, drug products, stability and non-routine samples, in addition to participate in the test method development, validation and technical transfers as required.  They are responsible for ensuring that all testing is carried out in accordance with cGMP.

Your responsibilities include:

• Analytical test support to QC Analytical laboratory.

• Raw material, in process, finished product and stability testing.

• Review and approval of laboratory results and documentation.

• Makes technical decisions and lead out of specification and deviation investigations with implementation of suitable corrective and preventative actions.

• Prepares standard and sample solutions as required by the test methods.

• Operates general analytical instruments during testing (i.e. UPLC, titrator, FTIR spectroscopy).

• Validation, operation, maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.

• Performs peer review of other chemist’s work.

• Ensure all analytical testing is carried out as defined in Quality System

• Perform analytical method development and validations as required.

• Provide analytical support to process validations.

• Review of all laboratory Quality Systems to ensure compliance to GMP.

• Participate in Regulatory, Internal and Vendor audit programs as required.

• Provide technical guidance / trouble shooting where applicable.

• Build Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.

Basic Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry with 1-2 years of relevant experience

• QC/R&D pharmaceutical chemistry lab experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) testing using Empower software.

• Drug/medical device combination product experience (Part4)

• Solvent extraction sample preparation experience.

• Stability sample testing.

• Analytical test method development and validation.

• Excellent computer skills (Excel, Work, PowerPoint, Minitab).

• Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills.
