The Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer will provide on-site subject matter expertise of the VDI solution hosted within a secret network in Falls Church, VA and perform daily system administration and support duties.  The current VDI solution is a Citrix XenDesktop integration with VMWare vSphere presenting a Windows 10 desktop on WYSE thin client workstations. 
Additionally, the VDI Support Engineer will evaluate the existing VDI platform, build a technical transition plan, and work with a local support team to implement the VDI upgrade based on Windows, Citrix, and WYSE thin client workstations.  In addition, the VDI Support Engineer will work with our Cybersecurity team to ensure that the VDI solution is documented, maintained, and ready to be risk assessed as part of a network accreditation process.  This will involve scanning, patching, and documenting the VDI solution for production.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on the Citrix VDI solution hosted within a secret network
  • Perform system administration and support duties on the existing Citrix VDI solution
  • Accurately log/ticket, track, and resolve incidents using the Remedy ITSM system
  • Provide accurate, timely, and professional resolution on all supported incidents and issues
  • Evaluate existing Citrix VDI solution and establish a technical design to upgrade solution
  • Develop system administration documentation in support of accreditation requirements
  • Provide a high level of professionalism and customer service
  • Provide updates to management and project leadership of all ongoing critical issues
  • Assist local support team primary POCs with system administration tasks (as needed)
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrated technical competency in the following areas:
  • Citrix Administration (XenDesktop 7.x)
  • Server Virtualization (VMWare ESXi 6.x)
  • Windows Server Administration (2016, 2012R2, 2008R2)
  • Window Operating System (Windows 10)
  • Storage Area Networks
  • Network Communication processes
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Proven ability to coordinate and lead system engineering projects
  • Ability to understand and apply knowledge of current industry standard systems architectures
  • Strong critical thinking skills that facilitate timely problem-solving
  • SCCM, CommVault, and/or Network Administration (desired)

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, MIS, 8 years related field/equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of engineering or system administration experience with demonstrated experience supporting a Citrix XenDesktop VDI solution
  • Candidates must be US citizens and able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense Secret (or interim Secret) security clearance as a condition of employment
  • Have or obtain requisite DoD 8570 certifications (i.e. Security + CE, CISSP, etc.) within three months of beginning position
