Next Gen Publisher is Cigna’s strategic approach to move data across Cigna’s enterprise.  The objective of the system is to create a dynamic Lineage, provide a mechanism to create custom consumer views and reduce data latency across the organization.  The publisher solution strives to solve many challenges in today’s environment, including data reconciliation and centralizing data transformation and enrichment rules.  Team members, using their understanding of data flows, propose and implement innovative data solutions. To that end the Publisher team is in search of technologists to meet our project objectives.  The Publisher framework consists of multiple applications (Web based/Database/ Configurable rules) that can intake data from any source and make the data transformation visible as the data evolves using the configured rules and generate consumer specific data views that can be used in their daily operations. Applicants must have excellent planning, analytical, communication, technical and problem-solving skills.

Essential Duties

  • Interpret specifications for setup in the Publisher configurator and establish new data configurations and transformations to meet consumer data needs
  • Maintain, improve and adapt or modify existing configurations
  • Determines operational objectives by studying data models, gathering information, evaluating output requirements and formats
  • Designs new data transformations by analyzing requirements, constructing data, studying source and destination systems capabilities, data contexts
  • Performs unit testing to validate modifications to models and context prior to merging changes to GIT Develop
  • Triages defects from system testing to verify required changes
  • Improves systems by studying current data movement practices and designing modifications
  • Recommends controls by identifying problems and writing improved data movement procedures
  • Recommends enhancements to Config/UI tool to improve usability and modeler efficiency/ productivity
  • Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation, providing support and training other users.


  • Excellent abstract, analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (able to communicate at all levels)
  • In-depth knowledge of data analysis or ETL processes and requirements mapping
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity.
  • Flexible, ability to adapt to change quickly
  • Desired:  Previous background on Cigna teams supporting provider environments like (HCPM, PTDM PRDS, CPF) and related consumers.
  • Experience with Agile development (SCRUM methodology)
  • Experience with software tools such as GIT Bash, GIT Lab, OpenShift and Splunk
  • Ability to work as part of a high performance team and with other scrum teams in a fast paced environment.
