DSS is seeking a DB2 administrator to complement the capabilities of our Enterprise Application Support Team. The person should be a self-starter; detail and customer service oriented, should have excellent written and oral skills and must also be able to work in a fast passed customer oriented environment.

IT services necessary for the completion/deployment, required maintenance and enhancement for the following:

  • Provides technical leadership for architecture, design, documentation and maintenance of an internal database and related systems.
  • Oversees the evaluation, design and implementation of database enhancements and develops a long-term strategy for data storage.
  • Provide ongoing support in the development of policies and procedures related to data security and integrity and monitors and limits database access as needed.
  • Relies on extensive knowledge and professional discretion to achieve goals.
  • Provides support for DB2 and LUW, diagnoses and resolution of database problems, and configuration.


The DB2 DBA will work as part of a collaborative team in a fast paced environment while working in conjunction with DSS ITS teams. The individual will need to be able to have a self-starter mentality while being able to be a team player, and a willingness to learn and utilize new technologies. Able to work with end-users, vendors, and programmers to troubleshoot and implement opportunities in both production and non-production environments.

Specific Services Required

Bachelor’s degree within an IT related field or equivalent experience. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to all levels within the organization. Working knowledge of the database installations, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, DB2 object creation and alteration, backup/recovery. Able to understand HA and DR in BD2 LUW Databases. Prioritize issues and tasks at hand, and able to work with multiple teams to help resolve issues in a quickly and efficiently.

Required Skills / Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with DB2 Databases within an enterprise level environment. 6 Years of experience in Information Technology (IT) operations support areas. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
