Apex Systems is partnering with Comcast to find a DevOps engineer to join their Next Generation Access Network (NGAN) group. This person will sit onsite in the new CTC building right in the heart of Philadelphia and report to some of the team's lead engineers. 

This person will be paid a competitive rate of $30 / hour and be a part of the Next Generation Access Network (NGAN group). This individual will be responsible for building, implementing, and deploying engineering solutions within Comcast's network. They will be part of a multi-billion dollar project in which Comcast will redeploy the entire CMTS , which will completely revolutionize the cable industry. 

This person should have a background in DevOps or development and able to answer basic questions about Linux command line as well as experience development and supporting network architecture. 

Job Summary:

• Diagnose complex problems and design long term fixes.

• Contribute to written reports and other technical documentation necessary to communicate ideas, concepts, and details necessary to accomplish specific goals

• Contribute to the definition of operational and support requirements for new network related technologies and products.

• Deploy production National vCMTS environments all tools and resources available.

• Actively work with engineering groups and teams to ensure proper understanding of all vCMTS initiatives.

• Must perform operational guidance towards other members of the vCMTS team.

• Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Deploy/Install software and configurations.


•  Hands-on troubleshooting experience of complex large scale CMTS /RF/ TCP/IP networks

• Good communication skills and a customer-centric attitude.

• Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, IP Provisioning and IP Management

• Knowledge of IPv6.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex network related problems escalated from other organizations within the company.

• Ability to review technical changes for accuracy and recommend changes to support operational guidelines.

• Knowledge of Unix and/or Linux operating systems.

• Knowledge of or ability to learn software defined networks and cloud based systems.

• Knowledge of highly complex network infrastructures and multiple products residing on them.

• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or bash

Job Specifications:

• Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, military and/or industrial Engineering experience.

• Generally requires 2-5 years related experience

Soft Skills: coach-able, mold-able, professional, wants to learn, and respectful as they will be working with a lot of really important people 
Technical Skills: Have to know how to request IP Addresses, ticket --> SMOP on parts, bash/python, networking (Routers, switches, servers, Cloud --> AWS) and (Grep, Pipe, Dash-I) experience, SDN would be great, Linux is going to be a HUGE plus, CMTS experience helps but understands it is rare, Docsis
