Apex Systems is looking for a DevOps Engineer (Linux and Automation Emphasis) in Columbus, Ohio.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for supporting Client, Server, systems. This includes resolving incidents and requests, performing systems analysis, hardware/software upgrades, and implementing technology projects.
  • Support of Linux servers including patching, security remediation, reverse proxy configuration, firewall configuration, SSL, web server configuration, standard plugins, log rotation, backup and performance tuning.
  •  Standardize the deployment of Linux based services.
  •  Maintain, enhance and create tools to automate common tasks.
  •  Identify and resolve service problems ranging from disaster recovery to login problems.
  •  Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  •  Develop and maintain installation and configuration documentation.
  •  Develop and maintain monitoring and procedures to ensure systems operate at peak performance
  •  Develop and maintain SLA policy and guidelines, and methods of enforcement
  •  Develop and maintain Security and Compliance Policy for Linux based hosts
  •  Develop and maintain Systems Inventory for Support and Licensing guidelines
  •  Develop and maintain Configuration Management and Patch Delivery methodology
  •  Support software developers in providing stable and efficient delivery environments
  •  Research industry trends and technology advances to propose enhancements to IT Enterprise Service delivery
  •  Provides advice and training to associates and business partners
  •  Determine technology solutions based on customer needs and business justification
  •  Serves as a liaison to other teams and participate in projects as needed
  •  On-call support as needed to ensure critical incident resolution

Requirements:
  •  Experience working with Linux/X86 (CentOS/RHEL) and Windows operating systems in both physical and virtualized environments (hosted and on-site)
  •  Scripting experience with Puppet, Chef, Ansible, configuration management software
  •  Extensive experience with automation scripting languages (Bash, PERL, Python, Ruby)
  •  Experience working with VMware and/or Citrix or Hyper-V virtualization, and at least one cloud platform (AWS, Openstack, Oracle or Azure).
  •  Experience with more than one distribution of Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL, SUSE)
  •  Experience in the administration of Database Servers (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL)
  •  Experience with Dell/EMC hardware and their management tools
  •  Knowledge of software development lifecycle
  •  Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines
  •  Advanced knowledge of application deployment and incident resolution processes
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  •  VMWare, MCSA, Linux+, RHCSA, ITIL, Cisco certifications are helpful
  •  Working knowledge of supporting technologies for their servers, including knowledge of networking, services, and industry best practices
  •  Willing to work flexible schedule that may include overtime, weekends, holidays and/or off hours’ support
