The Director of Clinical Systems is responsible for the systems and processes which govern the documentation of medical care.  This includes paper charts and Electronic Medical Record systems (e.g., NextGen EMR, ModMed EMA).  This person is responsible optimizing the effectiveness and use of EHR and other clinical systems and processes to maximize clinic, scheduling concierge, and nursing concierge workflow efficiency and compliance with all laws, CMS regulations, MIPS, & CLIA.  This person will work closely with system vendors, Physician & Operations leaders, IT, Integration, and Training to identify system and process needs and effectively project manage to achieve goals.  The Director of Clinical Systems will have primary responsibility for managing provider & company communications related to MIPS and clinical systems or workflow changes.
Essential Functions
  1. Define functional requirements for EMR systems.
  2. Define and manage testing and validation of changes to EMR systems.
  3. Initiates and leads projects to maximize Electronic Health Records & Systems effective use and functionality related but not limited to:
    1. Clinic medical & surgical dermatology workflow
    2. Cosmetic dermatology & Medi spas
    3. Clinic inventory management
    4. Scheduling Concierge workflow and effectiveness
    5. Medical Concierge workflow and effectiveness
    6. CMS MIPS Incentive Program
    7. CLIA
    8. Compliance with CMS, OIG, and other laws and regulations
    9. ICD-10 & CPT coding changes
  4. Interact with Integration departments to plan for transition of partner clinics onto EMR systems.
  5. Manage medical documentation and EMR related compliance with MIPS and federal healthcare regulations including but not limited to.
    1. Acting as copmany's CMS MIPS champion leader.
    2. Responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge of CMS MIPS program and communicating updates to providers and management.
    3. Works with IT, Operations and Training departments to roll out information & changes.
  6. Work with the clinical operations and training departments to gather feedback and areas for improvement.
  7. Other related duties and projects as assigned.

  1. A Registered Nurse qualification is required.
  2. Masters level preparation in business or related field preferred, or bachelor’s degree with extensive related healthcare experience. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  1. 2 years of work experience in dermatology / Mohs surgery or 5 years of related work experience is required.
  2. Must possess a valid Driver’s License and a driving record that allows for insurability.
  3. Must possess excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills in order to provide a quality training experience.
  4. Ability to train using a variety of systems and methods.  Must be adaptable to a variety of learning styles and capacities, with the ability to demonstrate a consistently calm, positive, and encouraging demeanor. 
  5. Ability to provide effective, constructive, and positive feedback to trainees, and respond positively to constructive feedback from others.
  6. Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team. 
  7. Must display a friendly cheerful, tactful and polite demeanor, and compassionate caring in dealing with others.
  8. Must demonstrate leadership by serving as an example to others with regard to professional appearance and behavior. 
  9. Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness. 
  10. Must have proficient computer and typing skills.
  11. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  12. Ability to learn new software quickly.
  13. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Physical Demands
  1. Ability to communicate in an active multi-office environment.
  2. Ability to efficiently operate all job related office equipment (telephone, computer, calculator, fax, and copier).
  3. Ability to communicate via telephone.
  4. Ability to sit, walk, and stand continuously for large portions of a workday.
