Job Summary:
The IT Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity (DR/BC) Analyst role is responsible to develop recovery, maintenance, standards and control procedures that will be used in the event of a disaster as well as assist in development of strategies for the organization to resume normal operations as soon as possible following a disaster or crisis event. Responsibilities include developing, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures, and programs for ensuring the security, integrity and availability of company data, databases, information systems, and technology and ensuring the regular testing of business continuity plans.
Job Expectations:
  • Coordinates, tests, and administers business continuity, disaster recovery and resumption plans. Assure that all of Data Center systems and operational units are recoverable in case of a disaster.  Reviews and implements planning documents, policies, and procedures and advises recovery teams. 
  • Deliver Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity program awareness sessions to various levels across the organization.  Serve as an advisor to other department members. Assists with ensuring Business Continuity, Disaster and Operational Recovery, and Availability considerations are part of all of IT systems and departments.
  • Defines and creates Disaster and Operational Recovery and Business Continuity documentation. Collects and maintains data regarding the business impact of a disaster.  Engages with SME’s (Subject matter experts) from various teams throughout the organization to generate Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans.
  • Provides coordination, support and maintenance activities for Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity inventory and plan repository systems and related support tools.
  • Assist in development of the Disaster and Operational Recovery, and Availability Strategy and Roadmap.  Consistently review and understand risks and issues and opportunities to eliminate or minimize risks.  Track deliverables to the roadmap. 
  • Ensure Disaster and Operational Recovery plans and IT Business Continuation plans are up-to-date and provide solid plans that meet business strategy.
  • Develop and run the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery testing activities, ensure plans for all sites are complete and executable and test runs of backup and restore at sites meet strategy.
  • Prepare Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery training materials and provide at least quarterly training and seminars for business to ensure the required steps and processes are in place to ensure recovery.
  • Enhance current technical processes and evaluate information technology (IT) and business processes to make sure the best strategies are being used across enterprise

Minimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information management or technology field or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years of experience in a Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery program. 
  • Ability to present to all levels of management.
  • Working knowledge of business continuity, disaster & operational recovery, and availability management methodology and practices. 
  • Developed and implemented a Business Impact Analysis process
  • Understanding of the Role Disaster Recovery plays in Business Continuity planning. 

  • Disaster Recovery certification or equivalent work experience with a goal to obtain DR certification within 18 months
  • Business Continuity certification or equivalent work experience with a goal to obtain BC certification within 18 months


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience

  • Experience within the Healthcare Industry
  • Ability to develop and implement Business Continuity, Disaster & Operational Recovery and Availability Management policies
  • Developed and implemented a Business Impact Analysis process.

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional
  • Master Business Continuity Professional
  • ITIL Foundations
