Apex Systems has multiple long term Electrical Engineer contract openings for a large manufacturing services organization in the Tampa, FL area. 

This position can be done remotely, but it will require 50% travel to California (all expenses covered by the client).

Job Description:

As an Electrical Engineer, you will have a defined area of expertise either in a particular competency or industry. They will have mastered technology specific to their area of competence. Will be able to convey technical solutions to other engineers and to business personnel.  Will have a good understanding of multiple CAD packages and cross functional design implications.  Capable of being the lead engineer involved in a cross functional team.  They will be able to drive cross functional project teams in solving technical problems and overcoming hurdles that may affect project timelines. This engineer will have demonstrated experience at releasing product into a production environment. 


  • Would be considered a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in:
    • Digital: DSP, FPGA, displays, various interface application, CPLD
    • Analog: Sensor conditioning design, ADCs, DACs, V to F, F to V
    • Power Design: AC/DC, DC/DC, Motor drivers (DC, BLDC, Stepper motors)
    • Cable Design: Specification, connector and wire selection, shielding, guiding drawing development for prototype lab construction and for production
    • Board Testing: Signal integrity, timing and power integrity - test / specification & interpretation, test execution and reporting
    • Laboratory Test Equipment: Oscilloscopes, meters, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal and waveform generators, etc.
    • Feedback & control systems
    • EMC – Emissions and immunity
    • Board layout
    • Schematic Capture
  • Proficiency in Altium is a must. Knowledge in Cadence Allegro/OrCAD is plus.
  • Ability to travel to California to support customer on site is a must.
  • Understanding and experience in medical device development processes, standards and compliance
  • Will represent Jabil Design Services in technical customer discussions / meetings.
  • Work with Project Managers in the quoting process.
  • Provide technical input to help identify and solve project risks that may affect overall project plans and schedules.
  • Is expected to support the development and utilization of processes.
  • At the appropriate process phase gates, drive the delivery of a complete design package to be entered into our PDM system consisting of requirements and design documentation, databases, BOM’s,
  • Lead elements of design engineering including design reviews, design verification requirement & Spec developments, implementation, supply chain & supplier feedback, requirements for implementation, transfer to design and manufacturing team.
  • Provide onsite technical support for all manufacturing builds including engineering prototypes, NPI & production releases.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technology and techniques to provide designs that are competitive and cost effective.
  • Support management in identifying internal and external resources to support product development/analysis
