Description:

  • 10 Week Summer Engineering Intern Position supporting manufacturing.
  • May perform engineering duties related to design, analysis, test, integration and systems engineering.
  • Activities can include but are not limited to: data analysis, analysis methodology improvement projects, creating or modifying tool designs, maintain production work instructions and autoCAD drawings.
  • Interns will typically support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of engineering.

  • Conduct studies and propose improvements to the overall process flow and spatial utilization based on Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Create and update documentation for manufacturing standard of work
  • Evaluate data collection systems, make recommendations and updates

 

Position Duties:

  • Review and improve quality control charts utilizing DPQx application which uses Minitab to create charts and generate alarms.
  • Help drive Lean Implementation in assigned area (including but not limited to Tier board setup, standard work, 5S, key metrics)
  • Develop and/or improve troubleshooting guides for equipment
  • Help document Visual Quality Acceptance standards Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a relevant major/field at an accredited university. Relevant fields include those in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
  • Candidates must be enrolled full time at a post-secondary education institution for the Fall 2018 semester.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Needs to have strong PC skills - Windows, Microsoft Suite
  • Intermediate to advanced Minitab skills
  • Statistics knowledge and demonstrated ability to utilize statistical analysis software




































Works with moderate work direction, and can identify issues/problems but may need assistance in resolving. Performs engineering work related to planning, devising, or adapting methods to improve manufacturing production. Examines equipment, processes, operations, and assembly to determine time or quality revisions and suggests improvements. May have responsibility to carry out changes or monitor operations standards.
