Our client is seeking a qualified Enterprise Data Architect to work with IT professionals and business leaders to provide services in support of the development of the future state data architecture and application modernization activities. These data architectures must be developed with knowledge and awareness of current data design standards while maintaining an open-minded approach to new ideas for future data designs that meet the needs of the business and satisfy the organizations information systems requirements.

The professional in this role must be capable of providing services in support of:
* the development of conceptual, logical and physical data models support our existing and future Enterprise Data Architecture
* creating and maintaining processes for gathering high quality metadata
* an understanding and appreciation for fundamental issues relate to data quality initiatives
* the development and maintenance of high quality data design strategies, guidelines, principles and standards
* mentoring and education, along with technical guidance and direction on data modeling/design and metadata requirements to data designers in the application development teams utilizing Agile development processes
* participation in quality assurance of conceptual, logical and physical data models

Technical / Business Skill requirements include:

* experience in designing conceptual, logical and physical data models using industry standard tools (e.g. PowerDesigner, ERwin)
* expertise in the normalization process and entity-relationship data modeling techniques
* knowledge and experience with enterprise data architecture methodology and frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
* knowledge in using data quality and data governance tools (Information Analyzer & Quality Stage, Information Governance Catalog)
* knowledge of Agile development and the Scaled Agile Framework
* knowledge of dimensional modeling, data warehousing and Big Data concepts
* knowledge of current trends in data technologies: data services, data virtualization, data integration, Master Data Management, Hadoop/Big Data
* knowledge in a variety of database, ETL, and application concepts, practices and procedures
* knowledge of NoSQL, graph, Kafka and other non-relational data storage technologies
* specific knowledge of the railroad and/or freight transportation industry

Professional / Personal Skill requirements include:

* experience in effective communication at different levels (i.e. junior team members, peers, management, senior management) of the organization
* experience in providing technical data design guidance and direction
* ability to facilitate small groups of application development and/or business users during data requirements and design sessions
* strong leadership skills
* strong problem solving skills
* excellent interpersonal skills
* exceptional verbal and written communication skills
* ability to work with business and development teams to convey the value of enterprise data modeling, data quality and data governance practices
