Responsibilities of the Financial Data Analyst:

  • Contributes to development of standards of performance for the department and nursing across MSH, assists in evaluating performance, and conducts performance management planning.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with peers to review programs, provide feedback, and discuss new developments and exchange information.
  • Shares personal expertise with peers and seeks peers’ expertise appropriately.
  • Develops and improves financial reports and various tools used system-wide in the preparation of nursing financial, human resources, and performance metrics reports as well as other ad hoc business analyses.
  • Leads and implements improvements, enhancements, updates, and modifications to administrative, clinical and/or financial data that enhances overall business operations and effectiveness.
  • Monitors additions to the data warehouse for accuracy and relevance while working closely with IS department.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary improvement teams as appropriate.
  • Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the company in community outreach and outreach efforts as appropriate.
  • Reviews HIPAA requirements and other regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Works with Director of Nursing Finance & Data Analytics and other staff members to develop reporting and analytical tools used to aid in the development and implementation of business strategies and to maximize performance.


Required Experience of the Financial Data Analyst:

  • At least five years of experience in healthcare related organizations, particularly in data analysis and data maintenance.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, Crystal Reports, ODBC, SQL, CCMS.
  • Advanced user of MS Excel, experience with Oracle PeopleSoft and Hyperion.
  • Source data management, problem resolution, strategic and tactical planning.
  • Ability to convey verbal and written information effectively.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work independently.
  • Expertise in manipulating large data sets in order to create simple and meaningful analysis


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred
