Apex Systems, the nation’s 2nd largest Information Technology Staffing Firm, is supporting a Client who is seeking a Gigamon Security Engineer to complement the capabilities of the Network Security Engineer team (remote or in Bloomfield, CT) .

  • Need GigaVUE experience  
  • Manage the server, create maps, perform upgrades, and monitor devices
  • Main function is to make sure the devices are working properly and the information is flowing to the correct place
  • This role is critical to incident response which is why they need a dedicated resource to this role.
  • Work with Icebrg (physical/virtual appliance company)
  • Environment is 24/7 more on call
  • Some cloud work - AWS 


Major Duties, strategy and core competencies

  • UCS/ESXi management, deployment and experience handling vSphere to deploy OVA/OVF.
  • System/Product owner experience; handling packet broker such as Apcon or Gigamon
  • Troubleshooting, Planning, managing and participating in the diagnosis (current state), detailed design (future state) and deployment of security processes and technologies across client’s network
  • Experience with threat, triage technology and malware detection technology
  • Understanding of VPN, firewalls and proxy.
  • Facilitate teams in installation, monitoring, maintenance, support and optimization of all security-related components
  • Experience creating and keeping up security documentation
  • Communicating with multiple areas within IT and some business areas
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to ensure activities are in alignment with the business objectives and risk management framework
  • Ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems via tcpdump or wireshark
  • Collaborate closely with other teams; find and leverage subject matter experts for required technical or business needs
  • Manage day-to-day operational tasks and health, metrics reporting
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and forming teams for security development
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation with team members
  • Connecticut is preferred; but Work from home is available for the right candidate
