Hardware Engineer III

Work Location: Mountain View, California USA 94043

Duration: 6 Month Contract

Project Overview: The projects goal is to reduce healthcare costs and improve quality of life metrics through better medical sensors. The candidate will join a small, multi-disciplinary team to assist in the design and development of a novel non-invasive medical device. The project tasks will range from refinement of an existing prototype to small scale production for clinical study testing.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Design, assembly, and testing of clinical prototypes
  • Development, integration, and testing of device firmware
  • Assisting with clinical studies (documentation, deploying and monitoring hardware)

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Printed circuit board (PCB) design, assembly, documentation, verification
  • Component evaluation and selection (sensors, motors)
  • Coordinating device form factor with other team members (mechanical engineers, industrial designers)
  • Development of firmware to support hardware integration
  • Coordinating the assembly and test of initial devices
  • Deploying and monitoring hardware for internal/external clinical studies

Job Requirements

  • BS Electrical or Biomedical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, and benchtop bringup of new boards
  • At least one significant project that involved the development of C++ firmware Altium PCB Design software Embedded C++
  • Basic proficiency with benchtop measurement equipment
  • Good communication and documentation skills

Nice to Have Skills/Not Required:

  • Nordic nRF52 & Bluetooth Low Energy Small form factor (wearables)
  • Battery powered electronics design
  • Medical device experience
  • Knowledge of basic physiology
  • Proficiency in Matlab and experience with basic data analysis Motor control (electronics and control software)
