Apex Systems is seeking a highly skilled Hardware Engineer for a fortune 500 company located in Cleveland, OH. The ideal Engineer will have experience with electronics, circuit board, PLC and other industrial hardware design.  This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about new product development. Title: Hardware Engineer (Electronics)

Location: Cleveland, OH

Length: long term contract

 

Daily Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work in a newly created Electronic Hardware Design team that is task with creating industry leading enhancements and functionality.
  • Enhance existing and next generation industrial control products. 
  • Products include (PLC) Programmable Logic Controllers, I/O Products, and Communication devices.  
  • You will have a key role in all phases of the SDLC, including requirements definition, complex circuit design for embedded systems, functional safety impact assessment, product verification and certification testing, and release to production. 
  • The environment is collaborative and innovative to successfully work with teams across the globe. 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Designing digital and analog electrical circuits and printed circuit boards for hardware systems.
  • Hands electronic hardware design tools such as schematic capture, PCB design, timing analysis, and signal integrity.
  • Experience developing electronic hardware systems.
  • Experience performing availability analysis of redundant elements (e.g., using software such as BlockSim).
  • Simulating analog circuit performance and reliability (e.g., using software such as MathCad).
  • Fault tolerant design, redundant design, high availability design, or avionics design.

Highly Desired Experience:

  • Experience with product certification requirements (e.g., UL, CE, IEC 61010).
  • Functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508 and/or SIL2/SIL3).
  • Strong Soldering Skills
  • Multimeter, Oscilloscope and other Electronic test equipment.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree
