Position Purpose

  • Within this dynamic, fast-paced environment, we are looking for a seasoned communications leader who will use his or her extensive understanding of modern communications practices to develop and implement communication programs for the company’s Total Rewards Center of Expertise.
  • This person will have a track record of success with developing compelling narratives; preparing shareholder, board of directors, Executive Team and leadership presentations; and stakeholder communications. They will possess excellent writing skills, visual communications capabilities, and deep experience in digital and traditional communications channels. Significant and relevant communications leadership experience in Total Rewards, compensation and benefits programs at large organizations is a requirement for this role. This person will work closely with, support, and align on communications priorities with the Total Rewards COE leader and sit on their leadership team and be expected to proactively identify communications opportunities and deliver well-conceived counsel and recommendations to the Total Rewards COE leader.
  • The Total Rewards Communications Leader also will be a member of the HR communications team, working directly with and reporting to the Global HR Communications Leader to improve quality, drive efficiency, increase effectiveness, enable change, and deliver value to HR that enables HR to deliver value to the company. This person will possess a continuous improvement mindset, decisiveness and gravitas with leaders, and they will enjoy collaboration, be comfortable with data and metrics, and fully engage as a member of a high-performing team. This is an individual contributor role that is highly collaborative within the HR Communications team.
  • The Total Rewards Communications Leader will be part of the company’s Corporate Affairs job family and collaborate across the CA job family in addition to their many relationships and contacts within HR.

 

Responsibility/Duty

 

70% - Total Rewards Communications

  • Delivers communications leadership, strategies and flawless execution to the Total Reward Center of Expertise Leader and sits on the TR COE Leadership Team.
  • Within the Total Rewards and HR space, understands shareholder, board of directors and Executive Team priorities and proactively makes recommendations to the Total Rewards COE Leader on communications opportunities to those stakeholders.
  • Enables successful delivery of shareholder, board of directors and Executive Team requests by creating flawless communications regarding Total Rewards strategy and benefits and compensation programs.
  • Develops highly effective and engaging communications strategies and possesses strong executional capabilities to effectively implement those strategies.
  • Manages the communications narrative and message framework for Total Rewards, evolving and communicating the vision real-time as the business strategy evolves.
  • Possess significant understanding of Total Rewards philosophies, trends, strategies, and programs to counsel senior leaders on effective communications strategies and programs, and then delivers against those programs to audiences ranging from shareholders, the board of directors, Executive Team, HR Leadership Team, and employees.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to advance global employee awareness and appreciation of Total Rewards programs and services as a valuable part of overall compensation. Develops communications strategies and makes recommendations to programs to advance employee understanding.
  • Has experience in change management communications and can develop strategies and execute programs that enable changes in corporate and department priorities.
  • Outstanding writing ability, demonstrated experience in constructing board-level presentations and pre-reads, digital communications experience, and significant capabilities in visual communications are critical.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-performing environment, comfort with and capability to work in ambiguity and with minimal direction. Can anticipate Total Rewards Leader needs and proactively meet them.

 

30% - HR Communications Team/Corporate Affairs Team

  • Fully engage with global HR communications team to improve processes, optimize and align overall HR communications, and promote HR brand and value to audiences. Participate in weekly meetings and take on special projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with broader Corporate Affairs job family on HR strategies and messages that are part of the broader corporate narrative for the company. Partner on how best to deploy communications to corporate audiences.
  • Manages and provides coaching to professionals working within the function, including the modeling of Leadership Expectations.
  • Anticipates future workload and plans for when ‘flex’ resources might be needed. Provides well-conceived businesses cases in support of resource requests.
  • Continually identify and share communications best practices with the team for overall continuous improvement.

 

 

Essential Functions/Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Some flexibility will be required to connect with colleagues and markets in different time zones.

 

Education

  • BS, BA in journalism or equivalent, communications, marketing, public relations, English or related liberal arts field

 

Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience as a communications professional in a large corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in developing narratives, leadership communications, and communications strategies and tactical execution.
  • Experience counseling leadership.
  • Experience leading communications for Total Rewards, compensation and benefits at the shareholder and board of directors’ level.

  • Strong coaching and influencing skills and experience working in a communications counselor capacity with leaders

  • Strategic approach – keen analytical and strategic planning skills to develop communications and issues management plans that reflect the company’s strategy and help advance business growth
  • Ability to influence – leads and communicates effectively in complex, matrixed, competitive and fast-paced environments and deliver results
