INFORMATION ASSURANCE SPECIALIST 

Apex Systems is seeking an Information Assurance Specialist to join our team in Dahlgren, VA. The Information Assurance Specialist will assist in identifying and evaluating user requirements, risks, exposures and controls in specific applications during the development or acquisition phase.

Essential functions may include: 

• Reviewing all safeguard procedures to measure the effectiveness of the total system security and making formal recommendations based on these reviews.

• Advising and assisting in developing, implementing, and administering effective security programs.

• Developing and maintaining a variety of IA related documentation (e.g. A&A packages, System Security Plans (SSP), Concept of Network Operations Plans (CONOP), accreditation requests and risk assessments, firewall modification, etc), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that are consistent with government guidance and procedures.

• Responding to required Information Assurance Vulnerabilities (IAV's) and Computer Tasking Orders (CTO) as they relate to the security posture of systems accredited.

• Providing appropriate follow-on assistance during the Navy CA and ODAA review process, to ensure that the specific ATO being requested is obtained from the Designated Approval Authority.

Requirements 

 • BA/BS from an accredited institution in addition to five to eight (5-8) years’ experience is required. 
• Must meet DoD 8570 Information Assurance Management Level I certification requirements at time of hire – a minimum of a Security+ CE. 
• Must have excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across project teams.
• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. 
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. 
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team. 

Candidates must be US citizens and able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance as a condition of employment”
