Apex Systems is seeking a tenured Lead Audio-Visual Installation Technician with true installation experience. This candidate ideally will have at least 3-5 years of experience and has worked with Crestron, Barco, Biamp and Cisco/Polycom. Position: AV Installation Technician

Level: Lead / Level III

Duration: open-ended contract with possible full-time hire

Location: Duluth, GA (20-30% travel across South East) 

Top 3 Musts:

  • 3-5+ years of AV Installation experience
  • Lead – experience hands-on installation tech, project engineer level understanding, but with more hands-on/field experience
  • Solid understanding of DSPs, control systems, able to break systems down and understand signal flows, design aspects, troubleshooting, etc.

Job Summary:

  • Perform installation tasks for audio visual projects including but not limited to: pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projectors and metal fabrication.
  • Applicants must have 3+ years of AV installation, support and troubleshooting experience.
  • Candidates must have experience with Barco, Cisco, Polycom, Tandberg, AMX, or Crestron devices.
  • AV Technicians will be responsible for installation processes and viable cabling and termination procedures, A/V system installation, configuration, trouble shooting, commissioning, and customer training.
  • Installation and service/preventative maintenance of audio visual systems in a control room environment.

Equipment : Barco video walls (cubes and LCDs) and processors, Jupiter video processors, Mitsubishi, Planar and NEC video walls, Crestron and AMX control systems, Biamp audio equipment, Extron switchers, Polycom and Tandberg video conferencing equipment.

 Skills and Abilities:
• Effectively communicate with employees, customers and colleagues
• Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner
• Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
• Basic computer knowledge
• Minor programming capability (AMX/Creston) – changes and troubleshooting 

Job Requirements

  • Ability to solder and crimp connectors.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
  • The ability to safely use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Extensive experience leading installation teams on projects successfully
  • Very good knowledge of network infrastructure and trouble shooting
  • Good understand of OSI (7 layers of networking) model
  • Good Understanding of routing and switching protocols
  • Ability to think and work independently and meet necessary deadlines.
  • Effective interaction with employees, customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary.
  • PC proficient Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be a safe driver.
