Apex Systems, the nation’s 2nd largest Information Technology staffing firm, has an opportunity for a AV Installation Technician to work for a large AV Integrator in Tampa, FL.  This is a long term contract position with an opportunity to go full time for the right candidate. The AV Technician will be joining an existing team but will need to be able to work on his/her own and take ownership of the project. The technical landscape consists primarily of Barco, Planar, Christie, AMX, Crestron, Polycom and Tandberg audio visual equipment.

Applicants must have 3+ years of Audio Visual installation and troubleshooting experience. Candidates should be skilled Audio visual technicians that have held leadership responsibilities.  This resource will be required to perform installation tasks for audio visual projects including but not limited to: pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projects and metal fabrication.  The person will has be communicating with the design teams, engineers and project managers on project status, issues and risks. The ideal candidate will have experience with Barco and Crestron

Position: AV Installation Technician

Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire

Location: Tampa, FL (up to 90% travel nationwide)

 

***This position requires up to 90% travel to client sites across the country.  The client will reimburse for mileage and pay for all travel, room and board, rental cars, etc.***  

 

Job Summary: Perform basic installation tasks for audio visual projects including but not limited to: pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projects and metal fabrication. Applicants must have 3+ years of AV installation, support and troubleshooting experience. Candidates must have experience with Cisco, Polycom, Tandberg, AMX and Crestron devices.   Technician responsible for installing mission control room facilities for a variety of high level government, transportation, corporate and utility and process control clients.  

  • Control Systems (AMX, Crestron) 
  • Video Walls (Barco, Mitsubishi, Christie) 
  • LCD Walls (Planar, Sharp, Mitsubishi) 
  • Video Systems (Crestron, AMX, Planar, Jupiter) 
  • Audio Systems (Audia, Biamp) 
  • VTC systems (Cisco, Polycom, Tandberg) 
  • Installation processes and viable cabling and termination procedures, A/V system installation, configuration, trouble shooting, commissioning, and customer training 
  • Installation and service/preventative maintenance of audio visual systems in a control room environment.
  • Equipment : Barco video walls (cubes and LCDs) and processors, Jupiter video processors, Mitsubishi, Planar and NEC video walls, Crestron and AMX control systems, Biamp audio equipment, Extron switches, Polycom and Tandberg video conferencing equipment.

 

 Responsibilities during the Pre-installation and installation phase:

  • Perform installation tasks for audio visual projects including but not limited to: pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projects and metal fabrication
  • Build racks
  • QA/QC rack fabrication effort
  • Provide PM with a list of tools required to complete the field installation.  
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints
  • Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors along with various other AV systems related tasks
  • Assist with basic mechanical fabrication and basic rack wiring
  • Travel to various job sites required  Attend meeting as required
  • Delegate tasks to the other techs in the field.  
  • Maintain the master set of as built drawings.  
  • Report daily to the project manager via phone followed by a detailed job site report.
  • Responsible for punch list.
  • Responsible for RMA's acquisition in the field.
  • Quality control inspections of equipment and workmanship.  
  • Maintain a clean work site throughout the installation.
