Our direct client, in Horsham, PA, a medium sized product development organization, is seeking a mid-to-senior level Java Developer with a passion for leveraging open source technologies to join the team.  
Initially this person will be focusing on new product development within a Core Java, Spring MVC, using REST API’s on a MongoDB back-end and deployed into AWS. Future development is planned leveraging technologies including Spring Boot (Microservices), DynamoDB, ReactJS and advanced AWS stack.

Much of this product is developed offshore so the new team member should be comfortable working heavily with offshore development teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the server side design and development for the mobile platform.
  • Understand detailed requirements, create or review server side design specifications, and develop new functionality for the platform releases.
  • Apply good technical practices such as automated unit testing, code reviews, re-factoring, continuous integration, test automation, and source code control.
  • Participate in Agile working practices such as daily scrum meetings, sprint planning meetings, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Create design and product release deliverables such as design documents consistent with established SDLC standards, methodologies, and best practices. 
  • Recommend use of suitable technologies and products to utilize within or integrate with for delivering specific server side capabilities.

 
Qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S. in computer science or equivalent.
  • 4+ years in software engineering system level experience.
  • 4+ years of Java server-side development experience is required. Some JavaScript knowledge and experience with JSON and XML formats is desired.
  • Experience implementing scalable server and web architectures including caching, concurrency and transactions, configuration management, connectivity, logging and instrumentation, performance, security, encryption and web services integration.
  • 2+ years database engineering & design experience, preferably using MongoDB. Ideally has experience with both SQL and noSQL database systems.
  • Strong experience with server side frameworks, specifically Spring Framework, Spring Data and experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience working with Cloud technologies, specifically AWS and related technologies such as S3, CloudFront, ELB, ElastiCache would be ideal but not required.
  • Experience with Linux OS environment with some shell scripting is highly desirable.
  • Experience integrating server side components with mobile and web front ends using APIs or frameworks.
  • Experience working within small and medium sized teams in an Agile / SCRUM environment is required.
  • Experience building successful products and SaaS platforms highly desirable.
