The Lead Technologist is the primary orchestrator and manager for computing, network and classroom technologies within an assigned area (school, department, etc.). Works as a unit leader and mentor, guiding IT decisions and questions, creates a new team for a health sciences education program expanding into Phoenix, AZ. Acts as a communications conduit between Information Technology and Library Services (ITLS) and colleges and divisions within the university. Works closely with the customer to prioritize technology initiatives to be implemented in their school or department including deployment of Campus wide technologies or local solutions. The Lead Technologist monitors environments to keep technology current, secure and stable. Supervises other technical staff and student interns. Encourages innovation and supports custom solution development to enhance academic technology services. Contributes to strategic plans to develop excellence in information services and research support. Coordinates special projects and ensures a balance of productivity and security for information services. Follows ITLS standards and procedures, and observes and enforces University policies. Manages computer lifecycle and operates using the information technology infrastructure lifecycle (ITIL) framework when coordinating information resources and support. 
The Lead Technologist reports to the Director of Health Science IT support. The primary work assignment will be located in Phoenix, AZ. supporting the University health alliance. Occasional travel between Phoenix AZ and Omaha NE, will be required. Provides leadership for collaboration efforts with Alliance partners, IT organizations builds a Phoenix IT team that supports University faculty and staff working in, or in support of, the Phoenix campus creating a seamless, effective partnership with the Omaha campus. 



• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent work experience.

• Master’s degree preferred

• Minimum of 4 years’ managing IT functions or supporting technology users

• Minimum of 1 year supervising technology service providers preferred.

• Higher education experience preferred.
