Apex Systems, the 2nd largest IT Staffing firm, is working with a regional health care provider to fill a LEAN Change Agent role in the company’s headquarters in Danville, PA.

LEAN Change Agent Summary:
  • Serves as a change agent to influence and enable a culture of continuous improvement through lean transformation to help drive implementation of the organization’s strategic plan. By exhibiting a strong ability to solve problems, develop and coach teams, and utilize lean tools and processes, leads implementation of specific strategic initiatives and related lean training activities across the organization.
  • Guides and enables multidisciplinary teams to identify improvement opportunities, gather data, assess analytics, adopt best practices and implement and sustain changes.
  • Focuses on multi-project initiatives at service line, platform and regional level (and involving major segments of the organization) to achieve improved patient and member experience and quality, plus staff satisfaction.
  • Delivers training and skills transfer in lean and related change management tools, to improve patient and member service levels and experience, improve employee engagement, and enable providers to spend optimal time focusing on patient care.
  • Directly accountable to the Director, Lean Transformation or Lean Change Agent - Lead


LEAN Change Agent Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Creates and fosters change in a rapid, positive, proactive manner. Promotes the use of critical thinking skills
    to solve problems.
  • To facilitate development, partners with other lean change agents to work with teams to empower staff, improve the patient experience and facilitates lean skill transfer to operational leaders and staff.
  • Coordinates and facilitates process flow review, related analytics, opportunity identification and corresponding implementation of lean-based tools and processes within the assigned areas/departments to improve patient/member quality, safety and satisfaction, plus related opportunities to improve provider efficiency and satisfaction
  • Facilitates development of key performance indicators to confirm and monitor success.
  • Assists in the design and delivery of skills transfer content to leaders and staff specific to Lean and related change management principles, tools and processes (including real-world application).
  • Prepares and submits reports as requested, and informs dashboard management per a specific strategic plan
    initiative.
  • Monitors lean and related change management efforts and escalates challenges that cannot be solved to the
    Director, Lean Transformation, VP and/or other key leaders associated with strategic plan implementation.
  • Develops infrastructure for success and sustainability of high performance and accountability.
  • Performs such other duties as are required or assigned for which the employee is qualified to perform

 
Skills of LEAN Change Agent:
  • Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., relationship management, appreciative inquiry, team building, and oral/written communication).
  • Ability to problem solve within a team environment, and generate commitment and enthusiasm towards shared strategic initiative goals.
  • Possesses strong leadership skills, especially in leading and motivating multi-disciplinary, cross-functional
    teams effectively, both in terms of leading change and achieving results.
  • Demonstrates fundamental Lean skills (e.g., root cause problem solving, value stream mapping, A3 development) in order to understand challenges and identify process waste.
  • Demonstrates the ability to navigate a complex organization to effect change through informal authority to make important decisions.
  • Communicate effectively and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrates experience at developing and revising Lean-based educational and coaching content.
  • Demonstrates experience at developing and revising the lean transformation process to ensure improvement of methodology to meet needs.
  • Demonstrates effective change management skills.

 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of three years of experience in complex process improvement, quality improvement/assurance, efficiency or related lean area directly working with executive/administrative leadership in organizations required.
  • Certification in Improvement Methodology (Lean, Six Sigma, ASQ, PDSA, Scientific Method, etc.) or other documented advanced training / education is preferred.
  • Baldrige experience preferred.
  • Expert user of MS Project, Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint required along with strong analytical and presentation skills.
